Does anybody think the defense let Seattle score?

Do you really wanna open that door? Cuz if so. We could question 4 or 5 games given the ease and habitual nature at which the Skins defense gives up points and games at halftime/end of the game.

Though I guess its possible Gruden figured Kirk would led the Skins 70 yards in 4 plays and figured he's need a minute or so to do it.

Honest answer though - No. I don't think so. Given that when Kirk and the offense took the field being down 14-10. 59+ minutes of game time had passed and the Skins had scored all of 10 points, Kirk only had 180 or so passing yards, had been beaten up all game the Seattle pass rush. While our running game was in full fail mode with 50 yards on 22 carries. Until the completions to Quick and Doctson which covered 31 and 38 tards respectively. Our biggest gain for the game was 23 yards.

Given all that. I can't say I see anyone on the Skins coaching staff feeling real good about our chances of winning the game on a last second game ending, winning drive. I could be wrong though.

Nah... but our defense is still prone to the habitual brain fart at an inappropriate moment in far too many fuckin games. They have had some really good games this year, but even in those games, they have had some come on man moments. We just got past that moment as a team yesterday.

I don't believe we did so purposely either. Strategically, I think it was the right move and even said so during the game on the game thread.

You are so dense you can't even follow the logic.

1- Seattle took a four point lead with 1.5 minutes to go in the game.

2- They have a choice of going up 5, if they can make an XP after Walsh has missed three FGs in the game. At this point in the game, it makes no sense going up by five. Seattle expects to stop us, but if we some how we score a TD, they expect us it to take up the entire clock, or most of it. So it makes no sense to go up five. Four or five is the same number in this sense.

3- They opt to go for 2. If successful, they go up six. So in the unlikely scenario where we score and leave them virtually no time in the game, we still have to make the XP, again, not a sure thing. This gives them a chance to go to overtime.

I understand your reply & agree to a certain pt. However QBs & other players are defined by big games and the closing moments of tight games. This is when pressure can either sway you to underperform or make mistakes or carry you to do good things. Heck Elway carved a big part of his reputation during those times.

Cousins has had issues during these times in the past. Like it or not he will be evaluated by big games & the closing moments of tight games. I believe that he has shown real progress in this area & this also helps him gain the respect of his teammates & the opposition.

Forget about that. Just the fact that he was able to lead the Redskins on several scoring drives with a makeshift O line & no running game against the Seahawks is nothing short of amazing. I think that people are really underestimating the current situation. I know that myself & many members of the media, tons of Redskins fans & opposing fans have seen more than enough to know that Cousins should be the future QB of this team. I just think that anyone thinking differently at this time just - for whatever reason - doesn't like Cousins. We will see.

The defense balled up even though its banged up and we went into Seattle in a game that easily couldve been a blow out loss and won. Both those throws on the final drive were great, as was the throw to Grant over the middle where Kirk got rocked. The fact that we can win on the road with no Oline and running game is awesome. But Im not gonna freak out over 2 throws just because of when they happened in the game. Overall I think it was a pretty typical Kirk game - some good some bad. I have no problem with Cousins as the future of the team, but I wont overhype certain things just to convince other people. (and Im not saying you are doing that, but Ive seen a lot of talk in general about how those 2 minutes show he should be our guy and I just strongly disagree with that)

The only person who was convinced KC should be our guy by those 2 minutes was Coach.

The other people talking about those two minutes are using it to dispute KC isn't clutch. Huge difference.

The win gave Cousins the 11th game-winning drive and the 8th 4th-quarter comeback of his career. Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr are the only players that have led more game-winning drives (12 each) and 4th-quarter comebacks (11 and 12 respectively) than Kirk Cousins has (10 GWDs and 7 4QCs) since he took over as the Redskins’ starter in 2015.

Coincidentally, Stafford and Carr are the two paid highest players in the NFL, which is a club that Cousins is hoping to join in about 3 or 4 months.

He caught all 3 of his targets for 49 yards and 2 first downs, all of which were season bests for Quick. His final catch of the day was by far his biggest.

With the team trailing by 4 and just 1:31 left in the game, he adjusted his body to catch a 31-yard pass from Cousins on a 2nd-and-10 play from the Washington 30. That play flipped the field for the offense and helped to set them up for a touchdown two snaps later.

Quick’s production in this game was better than virtually every one of Terrelle Pryor’s performances this season. Pryor only gained more than 31 twice this year, so let’s take a quick look at both of those outings.

Grant has been more productive than Pryor. Thank god we only signed him to a 1 year deal. He might be lucky to get the vet minimum next year. The guy just cannot run a pattern to get open and his hands are suspect at best. The only thing he has going for him are his size and athletic ability. And I have yet seen him use either to his advantage to make a play.

Run different routes with him while he learns. We knew going in that he was still reasonably raw. It is the coach's job to put you where you can succeed. If you aren't willing to work with the project, why acquire the project?

And what routes would that be? He is hesitant over the middle (this is where most of his drops occur). He can't get separation on longer routes. I guess he could perfect the 5 yard out and step out of bounds. Not sure that will move us down the field and scare any of the defenses. The bottom line is he is a project, you are right. But we are not it a position to develop a project during the games. We are paying a lot of money for a project as a 1 year rental. Frankly, Grant can do more than him at this time and has much surer hands. And I am by no means a Grant fan.

You really don’t think they have used him on some of those routes? I agree I have not seen the WR screen or drag route, but the deep ins and flys I have absolutely seen him run. He just never gets separation.
