Rappoport saying two first round picks and we'll be topping the contract dealt out to Aaron Donald yesterday.

I am very pumped to see this defense now, but... man. That's the Cutler deal all over again.

Comparing him to Cutler is unfair. Cutler in Denver was a slightly above average QB who everyone was expecting to develop into a superstar. Kahlil Mack is a superstar.

The big question is how many more years of his prime do we get? He's 27, which isn't exactly young.

If the answer is more than three, it's a great deal. Pace has shown himself capable of subbing in replacement-level players, but incapable of finding a superstar.

We have one of the best front sevens in football, and a secondary and an O-Line that are slightly above. It'll come down to Trubisky, but I think this makes us a potential playoff contender this year and next and a likely Super Bowl contender for the 2020-2022 period if Mack can stay elite.

I just meant it was the Cutler deal so far as the haul that we have reportedly shipped out.

Cutler was also a QB, though. Which mortgaging a good chunk of your future for makes more sense. So, it's kind of even. IMO

Yeah, and I won't dispute QB's>Edgerushers, but unless the Bears are truly awful, they were unlikely to find a talent on the edge as gifted as Mack; and edgerush is probably the single best thing, and arguably the rarest, to find outside of QB.

If nothing else this has to change expectations for the Bears now that 1st round picks are out the window.

I'm not saying Cutler wasn't a risk worth taking. I'm saying that Cutler was more of a risk than Kahlil.

We know that Kahlil can be a great player...the issue is how much longer will be that true.

I hated the Cutler deal at the time. I thought it was stupid AF. I’d give up two firsts in an instant for a player of Mack’s caliber.

This is awesome... Welcome to Chicago Khalil, my expectations just got a slight nudge in the positive.
Regardless of what he does on the field- (which should be a lot) What this says to the team and the young players, what it does to the locker room- It says they are in win now mode!
Even without sacks he can force bad throws, make offenses game plan just for him. I'm pumped now.

With Tribs still on his rookie deal for awhile this is perfect timing.

Pretty good trade for both sides. The Raiders will have 2 1st round pick in the next 2 drafts. Both of them probably in the 14-22 range.
If the Bears feel they are close, they get an instant upgrade.

Well I don't think there's any argument that we're paying dearly for the services of this man. Not just in what we had to trade out, which is still a player TBD to be finalized, but also the mega salary hit that will have a huge ripple effect on our financial picture down the road. I do agree with the assessment stated here that unlike Cutler (hated that trade from moment one), who everyone was hoping could turn into a superstar, Mack is already at that level. Easily a top 5 defensive player in the league. So unlike the vastly overrated Cutler, in Mack at least we know we're getting a sure thing.

Still, that is one hell of a price to pay. I sure hope that it will be worth it. All I know is I have just become a big time Khalil Mack fan!!

We sure did do it. We spelled "well" with a P instead of two L's, like we're supposed to.
