First of all, I take any franchise rating poll done by ESPN to be as valid as 3 dollar bill. There is so much elitism and bias in that article you could choke an elephant.

However, they are right about Toronto sports teams. The Leafs, Raptors and FC are all cursed with the worst ownership group in pro sports MLSE, who are clearly only out to bleed the public of money and not to win.

It also sucks when someone from Toronto deletes a thread while you are in the middle of mocking them.

Make that 2x now. :L

Huh? The article was written by Yahoo. The study was done by ESPN in conjunction with the University of Oregon. I looked at the methodology and it actually looks pretty good.

Looks like NHL teams did pretty well. 10 NHL franchises in the top 28 spots, more than any other sport. Way to go NHL!

Also, can't disagree with the Redskins at next to dead last - never competitive, they are always changing rules on tailgating, parking and concession prices are outrageous, and Dan Snyder treats the fans like shit. Glad to see them near the bottom. They are my team, I love them, but our owner has his enormous head up his enormous ass.

Meh. I can't say that the article is really too far off base since all the teams in Toronto basically suck these days.

The thing about that article is that it only really accounts for the present and doesn't put a lot into history. When the Jays, Leafs, Raptors, and TFC all start to win again, the atmosphere at games will be equal to the best anywhere.

Other than being over-priced, the stadium experience at Leafs games is pretty good, at least in the upper bowl. I saw the Jays and Yankees play a couple of years ago at it was a great atmosphere, but then again, it was the Yankees in town. TFC had great atmosphere, although I'm not sure what it's like lately.

Burke fires back (you just knew he would)

“I don’t think ESPN knows squat about Canada,” Burke said. “I don’t think they know squat about hockey.”

Lol. So he's upset that hockey teams did well in this survey? Strange.

My favorite line in the whole thing wasn't actually Leafs bashing:

"the Toronto Raptors' coaching rating is one spot better than the Ottawa Senators, which must be horribly insulting to newly-hired Sens coach Paul McLean, since the Raptors don't even have a coach"
