Update on the path to 88 wins; ahh, how about 84 wins? Pathetic results. Lost 6 of last 10. When the team loses all five of Nola's last starts, you know there's a slight problem . MIL is hot. 9 of 10.

76-72. 14 to go. 3 home games remain. Next, 3 road games with ATL :L. Will continue to track this hapless adventure, regardless. :drink:

The Dildoes don't quite have the "e" next to their name in the standings, but time is running out. A major winning streak would cure a lot of ills but that is not going to happen this year.

Update on the path to 88 wins. Phils continue to demonstrate they're a .500 team, 14-13 since thread start. Now, they've lost all six of Nola's last starts.

MIL remains hot, winning 12 of last 14, and may take the second wild card with 90 wins. Phils 4 games behind MIL in WC race.

78-73. 11 to go. 3 home games remain. Next, 3 road games with CLE.

Update on the path to 88 wins. :L With the 10-1 bludgeoning by CLE today, the path to finishing below .500 is wide open. 15-15 since thread start. :noidea:

MIL remains hot, winning 15 of last 17. Phils 6 hopeless games behind MIL in WC race.

79-75. 8 to go. Next, 5 road games with WSH. Final 3 home games with MIA.

They at least need 2 more wins to make it an improvement over last year. Maybe it is just a chemistry thing. They had 4 brand new guys in the starting 8 (Realmuto, Harper, Segura, McCutchen/Dickerson/Hasely). I guess it takes time. Remember that time they got Pete Rose and everyone got all excited then they went out and finished in 4th place? They won the World Series the next season.

Oh yeah, we do need to acquire 3 starting pitchers in the off season, so there's that.

Update on the dream path to 88 wins. :L Losing five in a row to WSH is the ultimate statement that the Phils cannot play for Kapler. Only Harper showed any signs of real life in the 5-game series. And, without a qualified pitching staff, this is also a way of the players saying "we're busting our asses for nothing". Phils go below .500 for the first time.

MIL, 89-70, wins the second wild card by going an amazing 20-4 in September. Yowza.

Phils, 79-80; 15-20 since thread start. I was optimistically hoping for a 24-14 surge to 88 wins, which, as it turns out, would still have left them out in the cold.

Next, 3 games at CBP with MIA to end what most thought would be a promising season.

Not 88 wins, not 84 wins, but a measly 81 to end at 500. Phils improved by one game over 2018, finish 16 games out and 5 behind the Mets! Phils, 17-21, .447, since thread start vs my lustful 24-14 estimate for the final 38 games. I was only asking the team to play .630 ball! For more perspective, they ended 25 games behind west division champion Dodgers.

Yep, Pretty much time to go home for the fall and winter just like so many years previous. It gets old, but what is a Phillies fan to do? I'll be back next spring like everyone else with another season to hope the Phillies will get it right this time.

I may find a new hobby. LOL. All the work the FO did last year to improve the offense and Phils end one game better. The FO knows they must get one or two solid starters but they'll wait and wonder while more aggressive teams snatch up the available younger stars like what happened in the past with Corbin and I think it was Pierce, while Phils ended up with lesser desired older starter like Arietta supported by a regimen of classic dumpster dives.

By the time the pitching staff is top notch, we'll probably need a new round of position players to support Harper, 2022, 2024?

I'm rooting for the A's, you know the old Philly A's. Connie Mack - an owner/manager in the previous century who knew how to collect players, at least in the early years. Just heard the A's have the lowest payroll in MLB!
