Any avid Phillies fan continually hopes for a turnaround where somehow the slackers on the team revive and win streaks longer than four games occur over the final six weeks. Not impossible, very unlikely, because it appears they'll be lucky to win 20 of the remaining 38. It can only happen IF most of these events occur:

Nola continues strong
Velasquez stabilizes with recent improvements
Hoskins recovers from his nightmare slump
Harper keeps up his recent hitting recovery
All Hitting improves
All pitchers improve
Better management decisions
Atlanta falters a little

At 64-60, the Phils can reach 88 wins and a possible wild card by going 24-14, tough, with 23 of 38 on the road. They can do it by staying with BOS, ATL, NYM, and WSH, and going 12-10 in those 22 games. They would then need to go 8 games over .500 in 16 games vs PIT, CLE, MIA, and CIN, a 12-4 pace. Obviously different permutations are possible.

There’s always a little hope involved, retro. But as I said, it’s improbable that the Phils can reach the playoffs, especially since they lost two of three to both the white Sox and the Padres, recently, two lousy teams. I am hoping they put up a good fight with the quality players on the team. I would never give up hope though because strange things can happen in baseball, unlikely, as they are.

Try Phoenix which is about central Arizona as the state and city go. Eastern Arizona is occupied by the Apache Indian reservation in the Northeast, the copper mine and national forest land in the central southeast areas. Phoenix is in the desert. That is where I am at.

Two-in-a-row is not bad but the Nuts and the Bitches both won so we stay stuck in third place just like the Dildoes. We are 3 back of the Nuts and 9 back of the Bitches. We are going to have to go on super winning streaks to catch both and I just don't see the Dildoes doing that this year because of pitching and the bats that have this tendency to go cold often.

I was joking. I traveled thru northern AZ three times on I40 in the last few years, with a side trip to Prescott in May, and thru Tucson decades ago. Will get to see Phoenix one of these years.

I think the "Bitches" are out of reach at this point. We need them to beat up on some of the Wild Card contenders. The scary part is even if the Phils manage to get that second wild card with Nola available to pitch, if they win then they will be starting a five game series with Vargas or Eflin or someone against a good team's best pitcher. Kind of like going to a job interview with no resume or qualifications and having to fake it.
Still, it's a chance so I hope they get there.
