I know AF wasn't very good this year, but I could swear I remember them being some serious ball hawks under this guy not long ago.

They were talking about AF's secondary on a weekly basis.

Their pass D from 2009-2011 under Warren was in the top 10.

2 of those 3 seasons they were top 5.

Very good coach that will not take any crap and will be a straight shooter. Think he fits in well with the staff and is a good technician. However, not sure on his recruiting abilities. That doesn't matter too much though as he can't be much worse at recruiting his position than Terry Joseph was.

On top of that, it's hard to gauge his recruiting abilities based on his time at Air Force...the restrictions they have in place are some of the toughest in the country. Not to mention you have to convince a kid to go to the AFA. Being a cadet is no picnic, even if you are an athlete.

Very true words... If you can convince a kid to go to a service academy you can convince him to go to Nebraska. However, the type of athlete he will be looking at is entirely different.

definitely seems like a good hire from the coaching side. He's very limited in what he gets at AF, so to have good secondaries there is a good sign that he can coach.

Big question: can he coach Special Teams?

I don't know anything about his recruiting abilities, but Sean Callahan did say this morning that he is expected to be one of our better recruiters.

Yea.....last season. But what about the fact that he had several seasons where his Secondary was in the top 5?

Bueno sirs.

yes... last season. But before when he was only a position coach and not a DC his defense ranked in #2 and #3 against the pass and recorded 20 INTs in a season. I don't think we have to worry too much, he won't be making the defensive calls. Even the beat writer for Air Force said that he's a great position coach and in over his head as a recruiter. If he was being hired as the DC I would be concerned. He's not.

Hey Husker fans,

Weird question. For those that can remember, what are/were your thoughts on Craig Bohl while he was at Nebraska?? Seems like a HELL of a good coach, but from what he did at NDSU, seems like going to Wyoming isn't much of a step up, other than in pay. Just thought maybe there was something keeping him from getting a better FBS gig.

You have to be accepted there. When you graduate you are a Commissioned Military Officer.
2nd Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, General.

Enlisted people go to Basic Training.
Airman Basic, Airman, Airman First Class, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Tech Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, Chief Master Sergeant.

RA is correct except enlisted people can get accepted to the Academy also in order to get their commission and become an officer. We sponsored two of them while I was stationed in CO Springs

Yeah, there was a guy I was stationed with that went to Officer Training School (OTS) and got his commission after he got his degree in night school while serving enlisted for a few years.
The vast majority of peeps at the Academy applied and were accepted right out of high school though.

OTS is different then the academy though. Kind of like a GED vs Diploma. Or I'm assuming it is the same as the army's OCS, Officer Candidate School. You go to the academy or if you already have 2 year degree you can join and go OCS, if my old brain serves me correct.

You got to go to the academy to be able to become a general though.

And I am hopefully (hopingly?) positive about Warren. I look forward to seeing what he can do, (and how long he stays SE)

Wyoming is a stepping stone destination, he does good there for 2-4 years then he moves to bigger gig. Kinda of in mid life range, think around 53-54, but think if he does well with Cowboys he moves up notch.

Maybe Nebraska down the road after Bo fails here?
