He wanted the New York and DC area markets, but he failed to realize that no one there gives two shits about Maryland or Rutgers. They'll have a noticeable spike in fan interest for the first couple years, but then the honeymoon phase will be over after they repeatedly get their dicks kicked in and people will lose all interest again.

Maryland might have hope, but Rutgers is not exactly on an upward trajectory right now.

If I may. I live in NY, and I can tell you that if Godzilla fought, or fucked King Kong in the middle of the Rutger's campus, is the only way anyone would care about the Scarlett Knights. But, that's not what is important. I have long contested, that Rutgers joining the B1G is in fact, the biggest and most important move any conference could make. And is even bigger that both Tejas and ND joining a new conference together. And here is why.

Okay, so it is all about the BTN. Fox owns 49 or 51% of the BTN. They also own the YES network (that's the Yankees Network). The YES network is extremely popular in NY. Now, the plan is to get BTN on basic cable in NY, to its 8+ million inhabitants. Now, when Fox sits at the table with Time Warner Cable, NY's largest cable distributor. They will show them, all the Rutgers alums living in NY. Plus, all the B1G alums living in NY. Enough of them to get it on basic cable. If TW balks at the idea. Fox can say, then we are taking YES network, and FX, Fox News, and some other channels off, until you do. TW will agree.

Rutgers is Las Vegas, before it was Las Vegas, when all it was was just a shack where you could gamble and spend the night before heading to L.A. As for Maryland. They are the sixth largest market in the nation, they are on Basic cable, but the amount the B1G can receive now per subscriber should spike, now that Maryland is on board with the BTN. So, for example, BTN gets only 30 cents per subscriber for the BTN, in both Baltimore, and DC market. When Maryland joins, that could spike to say 1.10.

Jim Delany knows what he is doing. And I also believe, he won't stop with 16 teams. I think he is going to go to 20 teams, and split them in 4 pods of 5 teams each.

So far, I'm thoroughly enjoying your metaphors. Like the Nattie vs Natty one earlier.

Thanks for making sense out of what the major outlets have failed to explain well.

I had heard this argument, just not in that amount of detail.

Sounds legitimate, but forgive me if I have a wait-and-see attitude about it.

thanks, is sorta of an eyesore to see Natty. Sorry brah, I am not doing a keg handstand, or playing beer pong. I am too old for that. And I am not calling a National Title, Natty, or Nattie. But, that is just me.

LOL. We have a long time poster named OregonDucks or "OD" who used and abused the term "Natty" and so we have mercilessly heckled him over it for the better part of 2 years.

I can assure you no one here actually uses the term Natty for anything other than humor.

Now it seems "Nattie" will be apart of the SportsHoopla vocabulary due to the OD CBS clone's extreme protest of it.

no doubt, nothing is carved out in stone. I also think Rutgers will get a spike in attendance from B1G fans going to games. I know that when Nebraska goes to Piscataway, NJ to play Rutgers I will go see it. And I am sure there will be a lot of fans going there too. Piscataway is only about an 1 hr and a half from NY with really bad traffic (which is to say, any other day). I feel very strong that Rutgers will put BTN over the hump to get it on basic cable in NYC. And not just there, but in Jersey, and Connecticut too. In the end, will it make Rutgers any better? I dunno, and I doubt it. But they MIGHT be making the B1G, more money like no other school could. Also, remember that Fox Sports 1 will be launching soon. The Pac 12 and the B1G are the ones that will gain the most from that launch.

Sorry, this is my fetish, I get carried away with it.

I'll take your word for it, sir. And yea, in the end it seemed he did.

OD is also good natured. They are cut from the same cloth if that's the case with WhiteMamba.

I'm here from the CBS board. I went by NE_N_NJ over there, but prefer this nickname but it was taken on CBS.

Tried to sign up from work a while ago, but used my home email and kept forgetting to get on it and get the registration process done.
