The Bengals stand little chance of making the playoffs at this point. You guys play a KC team probably resting starters. I will be honest and it is really no slight against you, but KC has Denver's number when starters play lately, and yes, that is because Denver hasn't had great teams and KC is putting out a dynasty, but if I was KC I almost rest my starters on purpose to get Denver in the playoffs as the #7 seed over Cincinnati. Who would you rather see as a potential match up in the playoffs as KC? Denver who they have beat like 14 out of last 16 times and they get to play at home, or Cincinnati who has faced you twice in the AFC Championship game lately, split with you and been your biggest adversary in both regular season and post season? Denver has to get past Buffalo first anyways, a team Cincinnati beat the crap out of in the playoffs a couple years ago.

I am just saying, you can play like crap and I can still see enough "bad coaching, dropped passes, miscommunication, lack of starters" getting in the way for KC to win that game this week. You may be able to play your worst game of the season and still win by 7.

He is a very good coach! Name me one other NFL coach that has never posted a losing season in his career and been a head coach at least 5 years?
Tomlin has lost 3+ December games in a row 4 of the last 6 seasons. maybe the reason why his team continue to be one and done in the playoffs

I think Tomlin is a very good coach who was an exceptional coach when he had a great QB. Same could be said for Mike Shanahan, Belichick, Andy Reid etc...

It comes down to in 2024 whether you’d want a coach that consistently has a winning record every year but is incapable of taking you any further.

Like Denver would love to have had that kind of winning culture here the past 9 years but we have the same amount of playoff wins in that time frame that they do.

He is having winning seasons with Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky (rotating all last year) Justin Fields and now Russell Wilson (rotating this year). You saw how Wilson did for you guys and Fields did with Chicago.

For him to keep putting in a winning season for 16+ years, and to have to deal with the QB carousel last few years and a Ben Roethlisberger who was over the hill towards the end, is an exceptional job of coaching. That is my opinion though.

10-6 with Russ and Fields as starting QBs. Pretty impressive.

I really thought the Steelers would battle the Browns for the cellar in their division this year. Pittsburgh and Green Bay are two franchises that have been blessed with good QBs for years.Steeler fans may have to wait awhile for their next QB that will lead them.

I’ll conjecture a guess that if suddenly Tomlin was available, about half the league teams would be interested in hiring him.

Russell Wilson wasnt as bad as we thought. He annoyed the crap out of me too with his weirdness...

Also how he hung on to the ball and would take sacks rather than throw the ball away etc. However, his stats (passer rating) was pretty much what he has been his whole career. Was a top 10 passer last year. Had a higher passer rating than Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jared Goff, Jordan Love. He was also efficient in a 5 game win streak including on the riad against Buffalo and KC.

He was doing pretty well this year and I was starting to see some possibilities for the Steelers. Now I've lost confidence with what they are. Like Denver, I don't think their defense is all.that and RW has really.taken a.step down.

I was hoping for something better from them. Don't underestimate them next week. This is the type of stuff that the Steelers can play inspired.

Carson Wentz to start as QB for the Chiefs on Sunday. The Broncos will face a ton of 2nd and 3rd stringers. This will be a Denver victory and I don't care if it's due to the Chiefs resting players. Will be good to get past this long playoff drought and this team's arrow is pointing fully north.

As the 7th seed, we will be traveling to Buffalo and will be heavy underdogs. It will still be fun to watch our team in a playoff game and as long as they show their competitive toughness, I'll be happy with any result. Of course, I want them to win but everyone knows it's a long shot.

I can only think of Pittsburgh having a good franchise QB in Roethlisberger (3/4 his career), and before that, I guess Terry Bradshaw? Bradshaw won 4 SB's but I really don't classify him as a good franchise QB, more of a benefit of being on some of t he greatest defensive teams in NFL history and some damn good playmakers around him in Franco and Swan.

Bradshaw was there from 1970-1983
Then a definite gap with O’Donnell and Stewart for 5 years each
Roethlesberger was there from 2004-2021

So you are right, not as long as Packers run, but Bradshaw and Roethlesberger having such long runs sure made it feel that way. And I followed the Steelers closely a lot of Bradshaw years, and yes, he had a great D, Franco, and some stud WRs- but any QB that has four SB rings is definitely going to be considered a good franchise QB.

good point. at some point it becomes about winning playoff games not just winning.

this is what i dislike about Dallas. a lot of fanfare and haven’t done anything since the early 90s

Here is the crazy thing about winning playoff games, in order to win those, you have to get to the playoffs to make a run. There is no one that puts their team in a better position to have a chance at winning playoff games than Tomlin does. Have they been winning those, no. But 16+ years of a winning record? He has two SB rings, so with a franchise QB, he is capable of winning. When you have a patch work rotation at the most important position in football, well, this game is much much harder. QB is the most important/hardest position in all of sports.

Well one ring but went to two. You're right though about Tomlin.

Sorry guys but this year is about making the playoffs. It is a giant leap. Even if we did fall short it is a LEAP and improvement and if you pay attention to the little details of football you know things are pointing in the right direction but the playoff is a giant LEAP, if anyone is less then satisfied bout a playoff leap this year then get out of here with your drama. Sure, down the line you want more then that but with the state of this team and the situation/growth this is a HUGE LEAP if we get there and if we don't then sure it will be disappointing that we fell short but it is still successful and things are looking up for this franchise...

8-9 v. potentially 9-8????? Sorry, life has been a bitch lately so I am fairly pessimistic........... and sometimes this board is just too much roses and sunshine when some criticism and pointing out areas of need are ok. But overall, yes I agree the the team is way better than last year overall and that is a large leap and 10-7 plus playoffs would be a Huge Leap!

Don't focus so much on the record as the growth.

Roses and sunshine is just as annoying as broken glass and melted ice.

There is a happy/medium to being a fan. Gotta be realistic from both sides of the pot.
