Narrowing the goal posts? That would be too extreme, IMO. You already have the same effect on longer field goals. What I could get behind is moving back the goal post 5 yards. They could even say it's a player safety improvement because there would be less chance of players running into it on endzone plays.

I am warming up to your idea of narrowing goalposts. Teams wont be so quick to just settle for a 50 yd FG. Or even settle for a FG at all. There would be more attempts at trying to get in the end zone. Since FGs would be more risky. Making the game less boring.
