most dont and i have seen this movie here before book it new coach 3 years more of rebuilding and the coach we get will be a new bee

Ok. I will play along. You appear to be leading the school of thought that maintains that Gruden should stay at least through 2016 if not 2017. Please make your case as exactly what he brings to the table - perhaps improvement w/o wins - so as to merit returning to this team.

I am of the school of thought that you don't retain a coaching staff for consistency if the coaching staff is not good. Thus far - over the past two seasons - only Callahan appears to merit being retained (barring real improvement over the course of the entire season).

Please note that I can agree that it is not totally fair to judge Gruden given the shortage of talent & more recently the injury situation. However - I also really don't see many positives w/ this guy at the current time. Maybe I am missing something - please educate me (not being sarcastic).

Again - I don't think that you retain someone who is no good since that will just prolong various issues for another year or two.

Whats 3 more years?? We been rebuilding since 1995 at this point.

Heh. Word...........at this point, I'm almost ready to say damn seeing another SB win, those that's the dream baby, I would count myself fairly lucky football fan-wise if I see the Skins become a team that can string 3 10+ win seasons together. W/O trying to be the off-season champs at any time during those 3 years. Such as trying to overhaul your engine (bringing in Al Saunders after the 05 season to supposedly implement his offensive system in 06 with Gibbs personal handpicked QBs, Marky Mark Brunell and Jason "Soul Glow" Campbell) when a tune up, actually using LaDell Betts when both he and Portis were healthy at the same time and a legit #2 WR were the necessary moves needed With a pass rushing threat coming from somewhere being the unexpected bonus

we cant have KC trying to carry the team

we need trent , reed djax , jones and our starting CBS to have a chance .

kerrigan disappeared today

As predicted Kerrigan would become a problem this season, again as predicted new contract too early for this guy. My guess is that the excuse will be that he's still hurt huh?

So - even if you believed that Gruden is not head coaching material you believe that he should be brought back strictly for the sake of continuity?

I understand your philosophy & agree w/ it for the most part (& it has been proven in the NFL). However - I just see the real possibility that Gruden is actually contributing to their current issues (we need to wait until the end of the season to confirm). The continued poor performance in the 2nd half is especially troubling to me & I have to believe that Gruden is at least somewhat responsible.

If there's going to be any change at all, there's only one choice that makes any sense at all......David Shaw Stanford, but honestly, I think that they stay with JG. (He can't have his ass handed to him against TB though)

Not disagreeing with the "seen HCs have success in year one" opinion. I've seen it to.

George Seifert taking over for Bill Walsh and a loaded 49ers team.

Barry Switzer taking over for Jimmy J and a straight up loaded Dallas Team.

Mike Tomlin for Bill Cowher, loaded Pittsburgh team.

Jim Harbaugh taking over for Samurai Mike and a loaded 9ers team that Singletary did help to buck up.

Tom Flores for John Maddden, loaded Oakland team.

Mike Smith in Atlanta with big help from Rookie QB sensation, Matt Ryan, FA signee RB Micheal Turner with a very studly year and a still could ball back then Roddy White.

Smith seems like the odd man out as the rest walked into some very good situations imo. Are the Redskins in their present form a good situation? A half-ass decent situation? Hmmmmm.

I'll second that emotion, In 6 games this year.

The Skins have not out-scored a single opponent in the 2nd half of any game this year .

Mia game 2nd half points, Phns 10 - Skins 0

St Lou game 2nd half points, Rams 10 - Skins 7

NYG game 2nd half points, Giants 17 - Skins 15

Philly game 2nd half points, Eagles 20 - Skins 10

Atl game 2nd half points, Atl 22 - Skins 12

NYJ game 2nd half points, Jets 24 - Skins 7 And Gruden, at least imo, screwed the pooch big-ime on the last drive of the first half. Calling 3 plays into the middle of the field, the first 2 plays of the drive and had to use our first 2 TOs after those plays. With the most befuddling play, Thompson's off-tackle run from the Jets 20 yd line with only 1 TO and 10 seconds left.

At present Skins opponents have more than doubled up the Skins in 2nd half scoring.

Skins opponents 103 points
Skins 51 points.

With the sole exception being the Giants game. The Skins have led every other game they've played in at halftime.

Every GM wants their own guy at the helm. Unless, the TB game is a reflection of today's game I believe that Gruden is relatively safe. That said, the underlying poison that still defines this team is coated with the stench of the Bruce Allen legacy. SM may still want his own guy, but won't publicly say so, he'll let Gruden earn his dismissal which at this pace won't be that far off.

That literally makes no sense. We got somebody to take the job didnt we.....? Kind of disproving your own point there...

you dont get it do you ? you will get another gruden type coach . a young coordinator , who will be like the 5th choice , he will get hired , then in a year and a half long before he gets his system in and the players he wants you will want him fired as well

wash rinse and repeat

You know getting a young up and coming coordinator is a goods thing? Like that's perfectly ok. Just because gruden might not work out doesn't mean that all young coordinators won't. Having a real gm hire his guy should be helpful.
