Sigh, now I have another to want this series to over sooner rather than later. This is turning into a "he said/she said" thread.

OK, so "coward" is harsh but the dude is no angel out there.. maybe "master diver" is less harsh but whatever.. :p

As for Sharks being mentally weak.. Yes, I think they've proven that many times already; it's not really new. Hah.

im glad we can all agree on this :)

I don't agree with that. At all. You dont get to the Conference Finals two years in a row being mentally weak. The actions of Ben Eager in the 3rd don't speak for the organization.

McLellan liked Eager's effort, wants him to stay out of box but give same effort. Said he didn't think he crossed the line at all

McLellan on Eager hit: "Absolutely 100 per cent available for Game 3 — I didn't see him cross the line at all."

so ... McLellans not an idiot?

Ok, the Boobs in Eager's direction were nice, but why were the Green Guys not at the penalty box this game?

Bieksa on Eager calling him a phoney: "I'm not going to say too much about that. Our power play [3-for-6] did a great job making them pay."
Lapierre on Clowe calling him a coward: "no comment"
lol

back on discipline (even post game)

interesting that we have so many Sharks talking shit about the Nucks
clowe, thornton, eager, wellwood, etc...

even Sedin when asked about eager hit:
"No big deal. I saw him coming, he just hit me a little harder than i thought he would. His game it so bring energy and he's good at that"
not an ill word to be said.

I just love the composure we are seeing, as that's what unraveled us against Chicago previously. The team is just flat out businesslike this year.

The only game I managed to get to this year (times are not what they used to be :frown:), the Canucks beat the Avs 2-1 at Pepsi Center, and I had EXACTLY the same feeling about that game. Business-like start to finish. My non-hockey-mad friend who took me agreed with that assessment.

McClellan never throws his own players under the bus. He has character.

I guess taking a step back... Eagers hit on Daniel was bad, no excuse. The trip he was going in to make a hit, but was late and slow and took a penalty. Sloppy play, but not "over the line". The talking shit to Lou was embarrassing in any situation, but especially in a 7-3 game... but far worse things have happened. Taken as a whole, its not like he pulled a Bertuzzi out there, or even close to it.

Its a judgment thing. If McLellan truely believes Eager can keep his dicipline in Game 3, then he will go with him.

Also, I know the word "idiot" gets thrown around a lot on the internet (I just did it), but you should be able to retract that and just admit you have a disagreement with TMac. Just as I was wrong to call EV an idiot, you don't get 10 wins in the playoffs as a head coach being an idiot.

First two periods weren't that bad.... 3rd was just a complete abomination, though.

Game 3 key is to let Vancouver score first, IMO. :p

First period was really solid. Sharks came out with tons of energy, skated well and got the lead. Then came close to making it 2-0. The latter stages of the first, Vancouver started getting their feet moving and struck twice quicky to get the lead.

The second was where it all came undone for San Jose imo. The Canucks speed was really giving the Sharks trouble, causing them to turn the puck over in the neutral zone. If not for Niemi it could have been 5-2 after that frame. Then the third like you said the roof finally caved in on them.

If the Sharks have any chance to win this thing, they need to do a better job up the middle and not let Vancouver get that speed going. If this series becomes a track meet, the Canucks will end it early.

He was having a bit of difficulty not naming names when he was making "passenger" type remarks, then stopped with a smirk. BTW its AV not EV fwiw...
And I agree that Jumbo might be the best in the series so far, but its close, Bieksa is right up there and the rest of the top 5 or more are all Canucks right now...

Hey EV could very well be an idiot ... i dont know who the fuck EV is though

McLellan: idiotic display of coaching for continuing to throw Eager on the ice ... thats much better

Another point. San Jose doesn't seem to have that stopper guy on defense that Chicago or Nashville had to combat the Twins. The robots were having a ball out there tonight, passing the puck around and creating chances at will.

I really liked Murray's game tonight even though he was an unfortunate -3, but someone has got to step up and make life harder for Daniel and Henrick.

All year long, the Sharks defensive depth was the biggest issue on the team. But the guys in there held it together nicely, and the team usually spends more time in the offensive zone.

Losing Demers, who might have been our best Dman in the Wings series, and having Boyle struggle, has really hurt the Sharks on D. Coupled with the fact that the puck has been in their own zone 90% of the time Jumbo is NOT on the ice, that weakness is glaring.

When its all said and done- this game was a lot closer than the score. A post here or there that goes in the first, the reffs calling one or both of those high sticks, and there is no garbage time for the Canucks to score those garbage time goals. I think the Sharks absolutely can take both in San Jose.

Another interesting trend for San Jose, is that the home team has been the better team in the last 9 games they played. I thought the Sharks outplayed the Wings in games 1,2,5, and 7- and the Wings outplayed the Sharks in games 3, 4, and 6. Hopefully this trend can continue.

I completely envy your position, Canucks fans, but I sense a little overconfidence... this thing can turn quickly.
