The main plaintiff that sued to have the Redskins lose their copyright protections said that her next mission was to go after...the chiefs.

Some people are simply overly sensitive. I am 100% white (as far as I know) but find the word Indian to be MUCH more offensive than redskin. Neither word was originally intended to be derogatory but what matters is the intent behind the person uttering the words. The way the Redskins use the term is not intended to be racist at all. In fact the logo was created by a Native artist. I think it's awesome. WAAAY better than that cartoon chief logo that the Cleveland Indians were using for the longest time.

If the redskins were really THAT bad, then force them to change it the old fashion way: free market economics. Convince sponsors to pull funding and put some actual pressure on them. If you can't get enough people to truly care for your cause, then your cause sucks and you need to get over it. Fight for old D.C.

I'm definitely in the majority on this topic, but if the minority wanted something changed, then try to convince me and people like me to jump on the bandwagon. If Native Americans wanted to make a big stink about the Cleveland Indians then I could get on board with that.

What the hell would a current Redskin fan know about the intent or contest of the name? That name was conceived when the team was in Boston.

I asked them for their thought, not documented proof...Point is, it wouldn't even make sense to name a professional football team a name that you felt would insult or disrespect any sect of people....
Especially when they are your targeted profit for your business...I think it's stupid and un American for government to infringe on the constitutional rights of the people, and especially in this case, 40+ yrs after the fact... Petty complaint to say the least, IMO..

The redskins name has been around since the '30's right? Just think of how many other sports teams and universities had Native American names during that era. Was it some vast conspiracy from all four corners of the country to belittle Natives? If your answer is no, then the Redskins should not lose their trademark rights if you look at it from a purely legal standpoint.

So I guess you feel the Constitution may not make sense today either !!.....And I was referring to all people not just AI.....They do count in the population you know, even though many are restricted to reservations while the rest of Americans get to enjoy the land that was stolen from them....But hey, that was so long ago, it don't matter today, right !!...Only the name insults them..
