Wanting a New Gun Dog

With my lab turning 9 this past year, and his hunting days pretty much over, I’ve started breaking in a new gun dog. Griffey is 10 months old and showing some promise. I got my golf buddy who's an artist to paint my boy for me....pretty stoked about it. He's got some finishing touches to put on it and I'll get it next week.

Retiring our family hunting dog so I’ve taken up the task of raising & training our next in line. So far she isn’t gun shy and is taking well to buoy training. Going to get her in the water as soon as the weather clears up a little.

I've been having a severe case of puppy fever this week.
It's pretty bad. I think I may look in to adopting one, if I can find one that isn't a pit mix. Seems that's all the local humane society has anymore.

...and then if you find one that's not a cast aside guard dog breed the friggin' "adoption" fees can be half of what a pedigree dog costs.

Tilly is 8 months now… 60 lbs already and still looking lanky.

She's a helluva swimmer already. Always wanting to compete for the fetch. Bottom photo shows one of her first times when she was basically just observing other dogs until she figured it out.

I was scheduled for hip replacement on 10/23 so this, Whip's 8th season was gonna be a loss but I ended up getting it moved to last week so now 5 weeks in, I'm gonna at least be able to drive him to the club and direct him for my buddies to do the hunting.

After having to put my Brittany down this fall, I'm contemplating a new pup in the upcoming year. Been researching LLewellen setters and leaning toward one of these stunners:

They're so beautiful and I def want to stick with a pointer. Nothing cooler than a bird locked down under point.

She was older and had become lame. When I saw her dragging her lower half along the yard, it was time. Sweet dog but I have never even imagined the breed I have now. Didn't know such a brilliant and biddable dog existed. He's a seriously fine dog to hunt behind and to live with.

had a pet cat i had to put down because she had a stroke and could,nt walk,so i know how you feel
