Early poll predictions show the bias. In one, Georgia jumps Alabama one week after losing to Alabama. As I pointed out earlier, Georgia cannot drop, and Alabama will not be punished for losing to Vanderbilt (nor would Georgia) when any other team would be dropped at least 10 spots.
The ESPNSEC poll has Alabama at 5 and Georgia at 3. So, a loss to Alabama will drop a #1 team to #5, while a loss to unranked Vanderbilt will drop a #1 team to #5, go figure. Missouri (which beat Vanderbilt) got hit harder for losing to Texas A&M than Alabama did for losing to Vandy

That’s not dropping bama far enough. 5

Upsets like yesterday are rare and so many on one given day. What happens in the polls is unavoidable. And trying to use the transitive property is futile

Yeah, only dropping 4 spots is kind of an insult to the idea that the regular season matters.

And I call bullshit to all the espn contributors and others who think that teams with byes should rise or fall.
Sorry, their offenses and defenses didn’t show me anything yesterday that justifies moving

The new
7-11.

Vandy is a bad loss. Maybe it wont look like that in a few weeks but it is right now.
the loss has to matter. Could see the argument for lower.

The bad thing for Texas is that win against Michigan isn’t going to age well. They have more losses coming.

The problem with that is that if everyone in front of an undefeated bye team loses, do they still stay in front of the bye team. And if they do stay in front and coincidently have a bye the next week, do they still say in front of the undefeated team behind them even if that teams stays undefeated.

You are right about the ESPNSEC people. If Ohio States gets upset by an unranked team, or even Oregon, Penn State or Michigan, they will drop farther than Alabama did.

So where does Alabama get ranked? Georgia won easily so they can't drop but is it possible to rank Georgia ahead of Alabama?
So does Alabama only drop to #4. Anybody else losing to Vandy would drop 10 spots.
And in the wacky world of ranking, watch TA&M jump ND after losing to ND at home.
Definitely possible to rank UGA ahead of Bama. I mean, I doubt Vandy is ahead of Bama even though they beat them.

what I will find amusing is an overrated Mizzou dropping just a little and seeing a massive jump by TAM if that happens.

That’s why I always say you never know what will happen in college football, it’s the most unpredictable sport IMO.
Still think that is baseball....but for sure an unpredictable week.

I don’t think any sport beats out basketball in terms of being unpredictable.
If you are talking predicting who wins it's baseball and not really close IMO. Lowest seeds beat the top seeds in series often even in early rounds. That rarely happens in the NBA.
