wouldn't call it terrible officiating but some mistakes for sure. Likely should have reviewed the early play but guessing it stands as looked like would be tough to overturn since only had to have possession a millisecond on the ground and play is dead.....that said if ruled an INT also likely would have stood. That close. also unaware of clock running rule but apparently a rule s got that. The refs last night were questionable all night. The opening drive to not even review the interception/catch when the booth and rules expert said it was an interception was a bad start.
Then they missed DPI on both sides a few times during the game. Then reviewed the fumble, the TD catch, and the runner not stepping out for way too long when all were extremely obvious.
The OPI was correct imo. The receiver extends his arms and clearly pushes the defender at the top of his route. That is different then normal hand battling.
I was not aware of the clock running rule but they explained it during the game and it is correct. The clock started again when the ref whistled. OSU just missed it.
Overall, a great game. Terrible officiating that is par on course for this conference and hopefully something that will be fixed.
As to the PI? Is the WR really not allowed to push/block if DB tries to push/block him? Looked like maybe just Smith a lot stronger (and some acting by DB).....either way can it be PI before ball is thrown?
