the sun didnt come up this morning oh wait a minute, yep here it comes. Will we have a presser today or sometime next week?

Last nite as I hit the rack I thought about how pissed I would be if they fired Bo and I was really stewing, my 7 year old came in to say goodnite and noticed that I was agitated. He asked why and after we talked about it for a bit, he says " Wont you still be a Husker fan if they do fire Bo?"

Kind of puts things in prospective when you look at it from a childs point of view. So here is my resolution, I wont feed the fire again , whoever our coach is next season can bet that I ll be behind him 100 percent and win lose or draw I wont feed into a media system that thrives on delivering bad news just to get a hit or a response.

Im not claiming the media is the reason Bo has anger issue but they certainly take advantage of the fact to get a response from him and inevitably from us. They will do the same for the next man up as they always do and if they can manage it they will do their part to keep this program in turmoil because nothing gets attention like bad news and we as fans cant get enough of it.

Anyways you guys have been great and have made me laugh alot more than you ve pissed me off but I have to at very least take a break from this shit/ So after Sunday (when I wil llikely change my avitar due to the worst picks one can imagine) I wont be around much .

Go Huskers Go Big Red see you guys around:suds:

That'd be a bummer if you weren't around much there Lou.

Pretty cool the kid helped keep things in perspective for you.

However it turns out we're all here because we care. That's how I like to think about it.

Yep. Husker RED til' I'm dead.

I just don't think Bo's ever embraced this program. Sure he was happy to get the job in the beginning. It was a great promotion for him to a legendary school, great pay, etc..

2008 was a honeymoon. Fans expectations were low (following HWSNBN). We felt great getting a Gator Bowl bid and beating Clemson. Even though there were a couple of blowout losses (Mizzou 17-52, Oklahoma 28-62), it was a fresh new start. The losses to Va Tech/Texas Tech were understood, it was the players first year in the system. Things would improve as the system gained experience, right?

Oct 2009 was when the real Bo began to emerge regarding his relationship with the fans and the media.

"Quit worrying about the Blackshirts. Get over it," coach Bo Pelini said. "We didn't play well enough. It had nothing to do with Blackshirts or yellow shirts or white shirts, or whatever the hell it is.

"We got our butts kicked. It's not about Blackshirts. It's about executing on game day when we're out there in red and white, and we didn't do that."

This is year 6 and NU's defenses are still not ready to go until mid-season. There are still fundamental football discipline issues team-wide (offense, defense, special teams). There is still content for fans and media, there are still blowouts. It's a pattern. It's like T.O. said about "not being able to put your finger on it". It's hard to understand why management can't seem to get all the pieces put together.

It's not the fans, media, players, refs, or Eichorst.

It's Bo and how HE executes his job @ $3 mill/year. It's how he organizes. It's how presents himself as the face of the program on and off the field.

It's like the standards apply to everyone but himself.

I think Bo is an outstanding coach, but he's struggling as a HC. Why?
You'd have to look no farther than those he's surrounded himself with. I'm not quite sure why he's aligned himself with such young inexperienced assistant's.
The experienced assistants, OC's & DC's say; NO WAY I'm working for you. :noidea: (just a thought)

When Bo came on board, he had a very good assistant regime. You could see the team develop a little more each week; week in & week out. Now it's one step forward and three steps back, and I believe a lot of the failures & blunders fall on those he put in charge of failed area's (spec. team for example).
Your only as good as those you surround yourself with.

Bo needs to build bridges, not bunkers.

I'm not going to point out the very few assistants that Bo originally had that were at least decent. But I don't believe he had a decent staff even to start with. He merely chose a bunch of people he had worked with before (most from '03). Whether that was Bo's idea or To's suggestion, it never served him well.

Good points all around, 4 losses per year aren't stellar by any stretch, but the antics are a black eye on the program. The media is so much more aggressive then when T.O. was a coach for the Big Red. I think they (including ESPN sideline reporters) bait Bo because they know which buttons to push to get the those reactions. Bo will never change and that is written into his DNA. People who make the big bucks have a huge decision to make, I just it works out best for the program.

Are they really asking about irrelevant stuff though?

Turnovers are relevant.
Penalties are relevant.
Blowouts are relevant.
Longtime Nebraska traditions are relevant.
His sideline demeanor is relevant.

All coaches get asked what could be considered stupid questions.

Nobody but Bo choses how he himself will respond to those questions. It's he who choses to talk down to people and give snide comments.

I agree, I am just saying Bo will never be diplomatic with any of it. I don't believe any other college coach in the state of Nebraska has the strained relationship with the press that Bo has. Bo took a swing at a ref, he also dragged Kirk Ferentz into the mud at the presser. Both totally unacceptable, and both against Conference rules.

By looking at the scores today in the Big 10, we can see that Nebraska is a coaching staff away from being a top notch team.

One of the scores I'm referring to is how in the hell did PSU beat Wiscy at their place? WTF was that all about?! WOW!

Also, I know it's a huge rivalry between those two teams, but Michigan almost beating OSU? Another WOW!

Looking ahead to 2014, I see another at least 4 loss season looming, maybe 5 losses, or 6 losses if the bowl game is squandered again.

There isn't much to be optimistic about in the upcoming years with Pelini at the helm. Of course I hope I'm wrong about this.

Its the talent people

Talent only takes you so far. You've got to have the ability to groom talent also, and teach them how to play disciplined football. We just don't see that from Pelini teams.
