Hopefully Scout.com is correct in their assumption.

I don't think they are.

On another note, damn that poll is difficult!!

What is the Hokies best previous recruiting class?

* 2001: Kevin Jones, Bryan Randall, DeAngelo Hall
* 2003: Vince Hall, Xavier Adibi, Chris Ellis
* 2004: Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, Branden Ore
* 2007: Tyrod, Danny Coale, Darren Evans, Blake DeChristopher
* 2008: Ryan Williams, Jarrett Boykin, Marcus Davis, Dyrell Roberts
* 2009: Logan Thomas, David Wilson, Jayron Hosley, D.J. Coles, Exum
* 2012 Already the best

I went with 2007, but it was tough. I wanted to go 2009, but couldn't because those guys havent finished yet. Plus 2007 was my freshman year too, so I was part of that awesome recruiting class!

Honest question because I really don't know the answer...is a link to the source article not good enough for citing purposes or do we also have to note the author as you suggested?

Certain sites want footnotes. Others want a bibliography.

All kidding aside, I wouldn't think that the author would need to be cited since you are providing a link, but what do I know?

I agree with the write-ups on about 5 of these prospects honestly.

IMO

-Clarke will not be a Whip.
-Vandyke will not be a DB.
-Motley is plenty versatile to play a lot of positions at Tech. He was not just offered to keep him away from GT. We do not do that.
-Jackson will catch balls.
-We were interested in Baron well before the camps.
-Smith lacked offers because he was going to Tech.
-Irick was not an "insurance policy" as those offers do not go out that early.

Just my thoughts though....

I agree on all but Jackson, only because I haven't seen his tape. It's nice seeing all the guys together via gobblercountry, but I didn't think much of it. He talked about how JC is already enrolled, but was hoping that we hang on to Donaldven. Really?

Jackson is 6'4, 250lbs, runs a 4.65 and has a 30 inch vertical. ESPN lists his strengths as speed and hands. He will catch some passes. The play at 13:18 is my favorite.

Dakota Jackson Highlights

This video comes from VaPreps originally, and they have him projected as an LB, but in this video, Jackson plays as a DE and TE. Watch what he does after he catches the ball. He is #44 in green.

The Rivals FREE side has him listed as 6'4", 250 lbs:

I had a dream last night that Korren Kirven committed to Kansas State. Even the people in my dream were surprised.

Dang, can't get on youtube at work, I'll watch later.

How does he stack up compared to our other TEs? Dunn seems like a guy who will only play in a few sets, Martin will block, and I don't know much about Redman and Malleck (aside from he mostly played special teams this year)

jackson and dooley

What does anyone make of Seth Dooley ?? DE or TE ?? Seems he's gonna need to eat some more meat and taters.

Jackson compares pretty favorably from a physical standpoint to our other TEs...definitely faster. Here are the rest of our current TEs on the roster:

13 Randall Dunn 6' 2" 228 r-Sr. (may get passed this year)
80 George George 6' 4" 265 r-Sr. (surprised he's not yet on scholie)
86 Eric Martin 1 6' 2" 269 r-Jr. (solid blocking TE)
88 Ryan Malleck 6' 4" 233 So. (saw a fair amount of action in 2011)
Darius Redman 6' 3" 256 Fr. (redshirt last year - should be ready to go)

According to VTFF's sources, R-So Perez-Means will get moved to TE...good move for all concerned.

This is my first post. I have been reading for quite sometime. I thought I would wait and post when I had something to add to these forums.

I feel the evaluation in the above linked article is very accurate about Motley as a QB. I have seen Motley play several times. I would be very surprised if he ends up as a QB. I will say that I think he has loads of potential at Safety. He is a sure tackler, fast, never shys from contact, and stands 6'4. I honestly think the young man will start at safety for VT one day. However, the absence of other QBs in this and the last class is mind boggling.

He's a bit of a freak athlete. According to the Rivals FREE side, Dooley has the following measurables:

Ht:6'5"
Wt:230 lbs
Bench Max:365
Squat Max:450
Vertical:35 inches
GPA:3

He carries the ball really well...I'd opt for TE/H-back.

I have not seen Dooley play no but Myself and Jermadams have seen Jackson play twice this year. He was disappointing to say the least. On tape yes Dooley is better.
