Another point: With Tookes, Jones, and possibly Stanford in this class, plus the 2013 GA QB we offered this week, is Georgia going to be the new Florida for us? It isn't at the same school like Atlantic... But we can surely replace 757 escapees with comparable OOS talent.

hopefully they are just another pipeline state in addition to florida. hopefully we continue to build inroads in florida, georgia, maryland, north carolina, and pennsylvania, with the odd south carolinian in there.

We're getting walkons that we would have offered 5 years ago. For instance, these are the latest S&C numbers for walkon OL Tyler Barfield:

Bench Press: 450 (2nd behind Acree at 465)
Front Squat: 510 (1st - Offensive Guard Position Record, All Time Record)
Push Jerk: 380 (1st)

I'm curious to see if Tyler is awarded a scholarship this coming Spring.

From what I've read, Matteo wants to play in a major conference .. The fact that he decommitted from Temple with a scholly offer and is willing to walk-on -- I can definitely respect that and where ever he lands, I'm sure they'll remember that .. Good info you guys have on this board

Another new hokie! Welcome aboard sir :tea:

I don't know if VT has opened the "pipeline" to Georgia more or if it is a result of the talent in Georgia increasing. The past 2 years the talent level has risen and more top prospects are coming out of Georgia high schools than ever before.

Who is this 2013 QB you speak of?

Brice Ramsey seems to be the consensus #1 QB in Ga. for 2013... and he has already committed to UGA. :becky:

I have heard a little about Eddie Printz and Jonathan McCrary, all three (including Ramsey) appear to be very close as far as talent level. I don't think Printz & McCrary have committed anywhere yet.

So the school of dreams and rainbows are trying to get involved with Daniel Rodriguez

UVA? Right. Sounds like Mike London's Hollywood script well has run dry.

I'm biased, but I know no man more loyal than a US serviceman. He wouldn't betray Frank Beamer even if the Hoos offered him a full ride, a starting spot, and Miami hookers. Officer Mike will need to look elsewhere for a feel-good story. May I suggest highlighting Eli Harold's learning disability?

Nothing has or likely will change on Kirven. Sunseri recruiting him for Bama so he likes that about UT but this wasn't an earth-shattering visit.

Found this update over on VolNation.

"It was great. I got to see a lot of stuff I haven't seen yet. Third time being up here and they showed me a lot. I enjoyed the coaches and I hung out with the players and stuff. It was a great visit. I loved it," Kirven said.

One thing that helped the Vols on his visit was that Tennessee replaced former defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox with former Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri as the Sunseri and Kirven know each other well.

"Coach Sal was my recruiting coordinator at Alabama and once he left and came here it was a big thing. They definitely got an advantage right there with coach Sal," Kirven said. "That's a big thing with him coming here and he's a great coach and a great recruiter, so it's an advantage."

"I wouldn't say that they're number one. I don't really have any placement right now because I haven't taken all my visits, but they're definitely right there at the top," Kirven said.

"Hanging out with the players was fun. I enjoyed seeing the facilities and they were nice. Everything was great. It was a great visit and I enjoyed a lot of it," Kirven said.

JMHO, but if you're not number one, you're not at the top.

But based on his comments about the Vols' Sunseri, I hope Stinespring, Kirven's recruiter for Tech, is staying on top of this.

Yes, but you can never discount the lure of the SEC. Additionally, Sunseri's at Tennessee now and Kirven seems to really like him. Third, Knoxville is a lot closer to Lynchburg than Tuscaloosa:

Lynchburg, VA to:
-----------------
Blacksburg = 97 miles
Knoxville = 315 miles
Tuscaloosa = 627 miles

I will say that there is a fair amount of turmoil in the UT football program. That should also be a plus in Tech's favor, along with good friends already playing at Tech.
