As I said over there on Scout, it has to stem from this article. All the article does is solidify that WVU is a serious contender, unless there is something very suprising in the pay part. That said, after WVUs performance in the bowl, I personally worry a bit more about them.

The free part of the article:

Joel Caleb likes the Mountaineers
January, 11, 2012
By Dave Hooker

With every touchdown, Joel Caleb became more enchanted with West Virginia.

The four-star athlete prospect from Midlothian (Va.) Clover Hill couldn't help envisioning himself in the same type of high-powered offense that helped the Mountaineers pound Clemson 70-33 in the Orange Bowl last week. The performance certainly made an impact on the top prospect in Virginia.

“I like West Virginia a whole lot,” Caleb said. “They obviously can score a lot of points, putting 70 up on Clemson in the bowl game. I like them because they spread the ball around.”

remember, lockhart was a zero star guy too until we offered him late, pretty much

ESPN actually had him as a 4*. Rivals was behind the curve but he wasn't a total unknown. His situation really wasn't much different from Deloatch. If Deloatch's grades were good from the start he'd be top 10 in the state right now without a doubt.

WVU is not who we have to worry about with Caleb. I think we'll be alright though.

What do you guys think of Scout's updated top 300? Here are some notables.

26 Eli Harold 5 star #1 OLB
171 Greyson Lambert 4 star #9 QB
202 Ken Ekanem 4 star #25 DE
204 Joel Caleb 4 star #31 WR
218 Korren Kirven 4 star #15 DT
247 Drew Harris 4 star #26 RB
251 Michael Moore 4 star #31 DE
271 Kwontie Moore 4 star #11 MLB

They seem to like UVA's LBs, but I REALLY like our LB verbals this year.

i just remember VTFF posting that there was good news on the horizon, and that we were gonna finish "very very VERY strong" in recruiting...so i'm still holding on to my hope...for all 3 remaining big time recruits.

My analysis on the linebacker comparison is listed above. I LOVE all five of ours. They are fast, fast, fast and have room to grow. I would project DVD at Mike, Edmunds at backer, Blue at Mike or Backer, McKinnon at Whip and Clarke at backer based on the film that I have seen.

likewise...hes playing in some big time competition as well....5 A ball in Georgia and making plays! not sure how he was over looked...seems he also picked up an Arkansas St. offer recently.. a pipeline there wouldn't be bad either

Stephenson, Columbia, and MLK are all in Dekalb County and all put out tons of Div1 players. We should spend more time recruiting atlanta and the surrounding areas IMO. Even if we cant land the 5* guys coming out of there, the population alone says that there has to be a couple over looked guys every year.

yeah, they had him as a 4star after the fact, but not until late in the game after he was discovered.

Nothing earth-shattering, but still interesting.

- He thinks we're still in good position with the big 3.
-Shane visited Caleb at the Army All American game last week.
-Ekanem is the most iffy due to the fact that ND gets his last visit, but he thinks we get him due to our defense and proximity to home.
-He thinks it's Alabama or VT for Kirven.
- He doesn't think Deloatch is the answer to our potential WR issues, too much of a risk.

Those were the main recruiting things he talked about, and most everything he said we've already seen on here.
