Problem is his current contract makes him a tough sell to other teams. Who wants to send two high picks for a 30year old RB and have to pay him 12M? How many RB's play into their 30's? Only an idiot would trade a high pick for him and pay his salary. If he agreed to a lowball contract and Minny took A 4th for him I could see a trade happening. I don't see Minny getting a 1st and a team paying him his current
The Vikings won't get a first round pick for him but cutting ties would be better than having a disgruntled player on its roster. It would be addition by subtraction.

alright. I'll bite. What issues was he having with the Vikings prior to beating his kids?
I don't know the specific issues but he is unhappy in Minnesota.

:L HA! That's what you've got? Because they gave him time off to grieve when his "son" died? Gave him use of the private jet? You're just grabbing at thin air, my friend. :suds:

EDIT: He wasn't unhappy until this perceived "slight," in which he didn't feel that he got their full support.

Truth of the matter is, any team would've acted the same way.

I won't disagree here, but this is a business and the Vikes would like to get something in return. Arizona has already said his contract is a wall to the trade. If AP really wants out he'd agree to a pay cut. As of today I have not heard this as a possible fix. Again the picks Minny wants and AP contract are two thick walls keeping him in Minny. Also if you are Minny and plan on cutting him why not tell everyone you want him back to keep his value up, if no trades come in cut him right before preseason? It screws him over and doesn't cost anymore than if you cut him today.

I'm supposed to know why a player has a personal grudge against a team? Lighten up. :L

I don't disagree with your thinking however some Men hold grudges to a fault. Mike Brown of the Bengals said he would never trade Carson Palmer who wanted out although Brown did finally trade Palmer 6 weeks or so into the season. Vikings have all the leverage both good and bad in this Drama.

The Vikings have leverage but it's counter-productive to have an openly unhappy player on the active roster.

So you think the Vikings team as currently constituted is better without AP than with him, even if disgruntled??? I'll have to disagree with that one...

If AP isn't happy then I doubt he'll be effective. Sometimes a team should cut ties with a negative presence in the locker room.

Maybe so but if the Vikings want to play hard ball then they have the means to do it. If Peterson acts out or is disruptive they can suspend him for "conduct detrimental to the team" and counter productive is all in the eyes of who hold the upper hand. While it may behoove the vikes to trade him they certainly don't have to if they don't want to.

Bottom line is the Vikes hold the royal flush at the poker table and Peterson has a bluff hand it all depends on who blinks first

No doubt that the Vikings have the upper hand but at the expense of team chemistry. They could keep him on the team but I don't see how that would be a good thing.

Seattle traded away Percy Harvin when he became a headache and the team's play improved over the course of the season. It was a smart move.

i agree with your view but realistically we are not in position where it would make sense to make a trade for him. cap wise we right now can't even cover our draft picks much less do anything in the FA or trade area and the only way we could (restructure Romo and cut Carr) is going to cause issues over the next few years we us meeting projected cap levels. it is a nice dream to have AP running behind Free, Martin, Frederick, Leary and Smith and watching him ripping off huge gains but reality says we can't and shouldn't do it.

Personally I'd prefer the Cowboys not trade for AP and draft a RB as there are a glut of good ones that would be available.

agree. running out a 3-headed running attack of McFadden, Williams and one out of Gurley, Gordon or Coleman behind our line should easily replace Murray

Careful you will be told by Greg that your opinions are invalid and etc etc etc and AP is better than any option

draft the best one on the board and move on

depending on the mock draft you chose we could easily end up with Gurley or Coleman and i think both fit well in our offensive program

Mock drafts are nothing more than a well put together guess of people that don't actually have a say in how the real draft goes. It is very unlikely that 3 RBs go before we pick. I would be very surprised if this team viewed Coleman as the best Player for us in the first round, but who knows

If they feel like they have no choice but to take a RB with their first pick, they probably should have kept Murray. If Coleman is a 1st round grade, great. I remember the Cowboys saying they only had a 1st round grade on what,17-18 guys? One was Martin and another was Lawrence, which is why the traded up. I loved the Martin pick, didn't like the Lawrence pick, which shows what I know. Lawrence looks like he's gonna be a good player

If Coleman is their BPA I'd be OK with the pick, not completely but OK. Too many other nes to be reaching in the first 3rounds.
