I heard a quote last thursday from Spielman where he said something to that effect. He didn't come out and say they would take a QB at that time, just that they wouldn't rule out taking one.
Just a ploy to get teams nervous and want to trade up?? Me thinks so..
But if teams were going to trade up, they would need to get to the 2nd pick, not the 3rd.

Maybe

It's easy to say that when you know both Qb's will be gone by the 2nd pick..lol

At least it'll keep Ponder on his toes.

Im convinced the Rams will trade down and RG III will go with the 2nd pick. Just hope the Rams let Kailil (however its spelled) slide.

That's what I'm thinking. Rams trade down, Browns get RGIII and Vikes get Kalil. With Luck and RGIII gone, the Vikes won't have to play the QB game.

Holgren isnt one to waste picks, so I really cant see the Browns trading up. Frankly, if anyone moves up to number 2 I expect it to be the fish. San Diego is mentioned as 1 of 2 teams looking at maybe moving to LA (Im guessing the Raiders will go back to LA), so Im guessing they want to keep their payroll lean and wont move up either.

I'm thinking Browns or Skins move up to #2.

Skins maybe. I still say the fish. I really cant see the Brownies moving up. Regardless, lets pray that SOMEONE moves up to grab RG III so Kalil slides to 3.

I always felt the Rams would take Blackmon if they kept the 2nd pick. Now they can trade the 2nd pick to some team and still get Blackmon.
I've seen the mocks where they had the Rams taking Kalil too though. It would be easier for everyone involved if they trade the pick away..lol

I meant they could still get Blackmon if the Browns are the ones who trade up..Might be out of luck if they trade farther down than #4 pick.

Thats true. If thats the guy they are after, then yes, if the Brownies wanted to trade up that would be best case for the Rams. They would still get their guy AND get probably the 22nd over all on top of it.

If Im Homgren, this is what Im looking at:
Scenario 1) Every one picks who I think they will. Luck, Blackmon, and Kalil (not necessarily in that order). Quite possible if the Rams take Kalil, then the Vikes could very well take Blackmon. RG III is there.

Scenario 2) SOMEONE (doesnt matter who) trades to number 2. Picks go Luck, RG III, Kalil. Now I have the option of taking Blackmon or trading down. Quinn and/or Orton will be available as FA, along with a host of others (Vince Young maybe?). This will get me by a year or 2 while I develop a mid-round QB. This would give me a probable 3 first round picks (counting the one they already have at number 22), or 2 this year and 2 next. Maybe more depending on how far up someone is willing to go.

Scenario 3) Talk trade with the Rams and drag out the negotiations long enough that the Rams dont have time to talk to anyone else.

Scenario 4) Knowing that the Rams and Vikings neither one would take a QB this high, trade with the Rams out of fear that they may trade it to someone else.

Cant think of another possible scenario. So given the above, if Im Holmgren, I go with scenario 2. I set my sights on a FA QB to get me through a year or 2 and pick a mid-round QB (3rd-4th). I trade down from 4 and get as many picks as I can get.

Some team will trade with the Rams to get RGIII. If the Browns want him, they have to make the deal for sure. If the Rams really want Kalil, they'll have to keep the 2nd pick.
Maybe Holmgren thinks Chili can get RGIII ready for the NFL right away??

I still say (and will until the draft actually happens) the Fish trade up to 2 (they already announced theyre waiving Henne). This gives the Vikes Kalil and the Brownies (if I were Holmgren) trade down. Hell, they could even pick up Henne to use as their 2 year starter while they train the new guy :D

As long as someone trades up with the Rams, I'm good with it.
