Damn. You guys are fast. Story just popped up minutes ago. I was just finishing lunch and I almost choked with excitement. :yahoo:

Welp, step 1 is complete. Now hopefully Babcock will complete the final step that Weaver totally skipped, an actual coaching search.

And not to be a total dick, I sincerely do wish JJ good luck in the future. I have no doubt he's a good guy and I don't blame him for taking the job. But the fact is he never should have had the opportunity. That's Weaver's fault. So for JJ, good luck. I hope he lands somewhere that he can learn more about the game and get another shot at a HC job some time in the future

agreed. I have no doubt he will get a HC gig somewhere, maybe a lower division or something and work his way back up....definitely cant blame him for accepting the job, even if it sure to be completely over his head. Wish the best for him.

Now lets get a coach!

+3. He seems like a good guy who was in way over his head. Unfortunately its not all his fault, but this opportunity for him was doomed from the start. Couple that with the fact our most hated rivals are ascending up the cb ladder and just got a #1 seed in the tourney....not a good situation for JJ to be in. Good luck to him.

Now Babcock has to go and get someone who can (in the not so long term) make VT basketball relevant. I think a good place to look is in the AAC, as that conference gets more irrelevant every year.

Won't surprise me if JJ turns up as an assistant coach at Clemson or Miami.

I hate to put too much on the next few weeks, but we all know if this basketball hire fails, it is going to cause meltdowns of extreme proportions approaching Frank Beamer's retirement.

I'm excited to see what happens next. Good luck to James Johnson. Go Hokies!

 I find most of those comments hard to believe, however that may explain the injuries and the number of players placed in the so-called dog house this year. If practices were that intense, it sure didn't show on the court during games though.

Maybe the players tanked the games on purpose to ensure JJ got canned?

If they tweets are true, I'm sure they didn't have anything left in the tank come game time because they were run into the ground during practice. There is a time and place for intense conditioning but it isn't in the middle of the season.

Congrats Hokies on James Johnson being fired. You are now one step closer to recovery. Finishing last place two consecutive years in the ACC is all it should take. It takes a special kind of coach to be an ACC level coach. JJ just wasn't one. Good luck with the new hire whomever that should be.:yo:

They should pick up Billy D's protege Pelphrey. He had a short run at Arkansas, but never had a chance since the boosters and Alumni were against him from the start (and these people up here think anything short of final four with Nolan Richardson success is a failure).

He is a good coach... plays Billy ball. If Billy quit tomorrow... I would be happy to see him at Florida.

Just saying... :)

Those tweets sound a little too convenient but you've all seen my posts about the injuries to our team. There is something wrong. What that is, I don't know.
