Dean, explain to us then WHY we keep this stiff around and are giving him so many unwarranted opportunities to make roster?? SMGM didnt draft him, he was benched last year for a rookie. Has almost no pass rush ability, and was according to you on the roster bubble no matter where we put him. So what gives?? I mean honestly, we could find a big slow stiff with little or no ability as a UDFA. So in light of all this.... why do you think we are keeping him??

We already established this. He is a backup and ST's player. Of course he is going to make the roster now. But please admit that the JG injury had something to do with this. I predicted months ago that he would be a backup ST player which would of came true if JG didn't go down. I also predicted that Hood was a good player and he is having a good camp. So why argue against that JG injury didn't help Murphy? It doesn't make sense to me.

Also, you guys said before the JG injury that Murphy was a lock to make the roster. If he had to stay at DE that wasn't so sure b/c of the play of Hood. Yes Hood was with the ones and at NT. If Murphy cant shine now then it just proves my point about Murphy is that he is just an average at best player. I just read something that the 3rd down front four is going to be RK, Baker, PS, and Reyes/Hood. If Murphy is not in there if we rush 5 guys then there is something wrong. Plus you have to factor in RJF, and Paea. Im not sure if they would be in on 3rd and long defense. Im thinking Cravens and Compton at LB would be staples on 3rd and long b/c of there coverage ability.

So yes Murphy benefited greatly by the JG injury.

IF he is on the roster bubble, you can get Backup/ST players that can actually contribute, wouldnt need to switch positions just to have a SHOT at making roster.

b/c he is cheap and they want to give him every opportunity to succeed b/c he is a former 2nd round pick. He got moved to DE b/c they know he wouldn't beat out RK, PS, and JG. Now he is back at OLB b/c all we have is Bates for a backup. Does that answer your question? Do you really think they are talking about a contract extension for Murphy like they would Breeland or Moses?

I will grant you he is being moved BACK to OLB because we took a depth hit when Gallete went down again. But you dont ask a guy to move positions if you realistically think he will fail.

They asked him to move b/c he wasn't effective as a OLB. Murphy is young and can play ST's why would they cut him now? My point is that Hood, RJF, Paea, and Reyes are all better DE's than him right now. His status has changed to a lock to make the team b/c of the position switch back to OLB b/c of major depth issues. What if Murphy refused to make the change to DE in the offseason? what would of happened?

Honestly - do people really care about stuff like this? I will be pissed if say the Redskins go 6-10 or they move into the next few years with little young talent (which won't happen). If I advocate a certain player & his backup outperforms him & adds to the team I will actually be thrilled to death. I love being wrong when the net result is that the Redskins are a better team.

It is nice to have certain favorite players but IMO all that really matters is the overall performance of the team.
