Marvin Menzies and UNLV land 5-star center Brandon McCoy - RunRebs

Look, this is a good start. Menzies had two weeks to put a team together last year. Getting this guy, means the ability get more talent and build a solid team. Managing expectations, I think this one guy translates to more wins. Not that 11 wins is a tough number to beat, but I see them in the high teens in wins next season. Menzies can recruit, and I think he is a better coach than Rice ever was.

Just excited to see that we can grab a top national recruit, and that it could put them in a position to get some more talent. Its a great start, and Menzies first big "get". I like it.

Yes I agree landing a top recruit is awesome, I'm just concerned if Menzies is the guy to fix the program. I was actually thinking when Romar got canned from Washington he could be UNLV's next target...

I don't even count last season against him. He had to scrape and claw up a bunch of juco players. Local reporters were saying that a couple of them were less than good character guys, and they created some turmoil in the locker room. They were all dismissed. We only had two players return from the year before, so as far as I am concerned, last season was a scrap season. He is starting fresh, and I will be happy to give him some rope. I gave Dave Rice way more than most, but he just couldn't coach or motivate players.
Manage expectations, like I said, and lets see what they do this year with a team that Menzies actually has some time to acquire. If they hit 18 wins, I will be happy.
