Yes Jerry is and yes that would be scary.

The knock I would look at if I'm him. In three years, yes Jerry may be the guy you want trying to pay you. However I realize why the cap goes up every year. There are three other young kids along that line. Martin comes due for either the 5th year option or a extension at same time as your deal. Then are also two others before them. At some point there will be a odd man out.

Now nothing is to say you can't tell him we extend next year or before year three. Then what are you saying to the others on the team who play out their contracts.

Yes, I know. I'm just pointing out how they did show interest in him before this went down. Obviously they withdrew that interest even once he was cleared. Based on Caldwell's comments, it sounded like he felt Collins should be focused on life and not football right now.
