Shavon Revel makes a ton of sense in round two. Lot of potential. Has the size and speed to start for a long time. He coming off that injury and we know how they like to gamble on this type of player in round 2
I agree, but if you aren't going RB in round 1, skipping RB in round 2 will still leave you a good RB prospect in round 2, but likely a rotational back and not a dude

Some pre-draft fun even if not likely or reasonable or not even smart :D :

Two names being whispered about as potential trade targets, in addition to all of the WRs we hear, are Jalen Ramsey and Jaire Alexander. Personally I'd take both over Diggs even though older and not long term solutions, but you need to trade or cut Diggs if you trade for one of them in a cap world I would think. Maybe not this year but by next year. You can't pay Diggs and then give Bland the contract he will surely command and also be paying one of those two all at CB. I guess you could put it off until next year though. Play whomever you trade for and Bland week 1 and then put Bland in the slot when Diggs comes back because Bland is probably at least as good in the slot as he is on the outside and then cut or trade Diggs next year to pay for Bland, but by then Alexander or Ramsey would be looking for an extension as well. One of the upsides of this is we solve CB without using a prime pick there.

Funny thing is that this team has the ability to solve most of our holes via trade if they are willing. We know there are now WRs, RBs and CBs available. OL and DL seem to be the two huge holes that you aren't going to be able to solve via trade based on who teh rumors have as available. Works fine for me because if we want to turn in to a contender THIS YEAR we need to be very aggressive. Best OL round 1 will probably be BPA. Best DT round 2 or 3 very well could be BPA. Plus Ol' Jerry has been leaking talk of the trenches which I love. With our cap space we could trade for the other spots. Problem is we only have the draft capital to do a couple of these things not all of them. I'm not sure what teams would want for these vets in a trade. Trading for a RB with the depth at the position this year in the draft probably doesn't make sense.

Draft OL (OSU OT), RB (OSU RB or Johnson), DT (Collins?) or flip flop DT and RB
Trade for one of the CBs (package of later picks plus maybe next years 4th?)
That leaves us a hole at WR but a much better team. But damn is that hole at WR huge.

Or Sign Gilmore and use your trade to get your #2 WR then the same draft as above. Helps fill your issue at OL, RB, DT, WR and CB. I really would love to see this kid Butler play at least half a season when he gets healthy and see if he is the player I think he may be at CB and we have the kid from Mia we traded for to kick around as a depth piece.
Good post. I agree that we could have resolved most b of our biggest needs, at least in the short term, if we were serious about winning football games. I dont think Jerry and Stephen are. They could have easily brought back Dowdle. Saying you didn't know he would sign so cheaply is just stupid and lazy. They could have brought in a guy like Keenan Allen. He isnt what he used to be, but he's a Hell of a lot better than Tolbert lol. It isn't expensive or hard to find a better NT to pair with Mazi than Rodgers SMH. They could have paid JLewis or they could bring in a guy like Gilmore with Diggs in question to start the season. Then they would be in position to draft whoever they wanted. I hate to break it to folks, we aren't getting 5 year one or two starters out of this draft. It ain't happening. If we land 2 starters and a couple of guys that play in a rotation it wipp be a great draft. We cant fix it all in this draft, no way

The only guy I see as a possibility here is Johnson. I'm surprised no talk of GB trading a WR but I guess that's not getting us a #2.
I would jump on Pierce. 37 catches, 824 yards, 22.3 YPC and 7 TD's? Those numbers already beat the crap out of Tolbert, plus he would have a far better QB throwing to him

Cowboys appear to have $38M in cap space this year $37M in 2026, Miles Garret is averaging $40M per year on his contract. Do the Cowboys maintain Parsons? They've still got a little work to do this season and I'm sure it's possible they put this off till next season but do they even have enough room to get it done. I know he wants to stay but money will be a factor it seems.

Yeah Pierce has had some monster games here and there and can stretch the field. I'd still like to see Allen but he's hoping bears or chargers. Another trade I wouldn't mind seeing is Jaylen McMillan. TB took an 1st round WR and already has Godwin and Evans...

Yeah, Lamb was 11 ypc, Tolbert 12. 23ypc is just what we need.
McMillan would be a heck of a fit too

The problem I see with Pierce is this is the last year of his deal. I don't think this team, wants to pay a WR#2 and I don't think they want to give up much for a guy they keep for one year. McMillan I kid of put in the category with a couple of the GB guys now that they have Golden. No place for him on their depth chart and better than Tolbert. Probably not good enough to accomplish what we need opposite Lamb to keep him from being doubled every play, yet be good enough to make plays when he is. BUT, I guess it does all come down to being better than Tolbert. Plus those guys shouldn't cost us too much in the way of picks going back the other way. The other big caveat with McMillan is Godwin's injury. From what you hear there is a good chance he won't be ready to start the year, so I'm not sure TB will be giving him up any time soon.

Good point. And probably why it will be Cooper

Allen is the guy I have wanted all offseason. If he wanted those two teams, that might work in our favor because I don't think either will give him too much at this point. The Bears took Burden in the 2nd and now have Moore, Odunze and Burden so they are out. The Chargers drafted Tre Harris in the 2nd and have McConkey, Harris and a couple other guys. I could see them cutting Mike Williams and signing Allen if they don't feel Quinton Johnson is going to make an improvement? Williams seems to be pretty much done

I think it might be Cooper also. I don't want him and I just can't get past how bad he looked last year, but I think he is the most likely.

Yeah, should have a shot unless he chooses retirement or the chargers make some moves like ya say. He's my preference too. I could also see him being one of the longest to hold out, not really as much on contract but location seems to be important to him.

Just saw this. If nothing else, they are definitely trying to make something happen which is more than we can say for what happened last year. I guess the Jones Boyz heard that criticism loud and clear

Seems like it. Im hoping they get aggressive in the trade market. The Cowboys have $37M in cap space. I would like to see them revisit the George Pickens/Jameson Williams types. They don't seem to value 4th rounders. That should get it done

I was talking to one of my neighbors last night who is a huge Steelers fan and he was praying the Cowboys traded for Pickens. To me for those guys it comes down to the compensation. I would not give up our #2 or #3 picks for either because both will be looking for a huge deal next year. For a 4th rounder next year? Absolutely. That way even if you let them walk it's worth it. But they probably get a 4th (or possibly even a 3rd?) back as a comp pick the following year so why would they do it? I guess sticking with that same line of thinking, you can say if we give up a 3rd rounder in 2026 and get back a 4th round comp pick in 2027 it's only like a mid 3rd for a end of the 4th rounder plus the player for a year if we don't resign him.

I am all for Williams if he is reasonably available.
