Why can't the Cowboys just outbid teams for his services, just like Dallas did for Ronald Leary? Dallas signed Leary for $393,000 and guaranteed $214,000.

Sign Collins for the max amount and guarantee the entire contract. The signing bonus would be irrelevant in this scenario since the entire contract would be guaranteed, and in this case Dallas can retain it's $75k pool for other UDFA's. It's not a large amount of money in the scheme of things, and if it's enough to land Dallas a first round talent, it's well worth the gamble. This is assuming he is cleared of any wrongdoing.

under the new CBA, each team is only allowed a certain amount for UDFA's and an even a more limited amount can be used as signing bonus(guaranteed money). i would like to see him on the Cowboys but they could only offer him a minimum UDFA contract and signing bonus which he could opt out of after 2 years and sign at a larger amount

If we slot him in at LG and promise him the RT position in a year or 2 this line will be beyond frightening. Then we have Leary and Green as the depth guys? Disgusting!

If the Cowboys put the 5 best OL on the field, I believe Collins would start day one

I believe Collins would start in place of Leery -- if Collins were to become a Cowboy.

When the protection breaks down, more often than not it is Leery who has been beat. It also seems like Leery commits the most penalties in the group.

Very interested to see how this meeting goes. If Dallas can land Collins, this will have been one helluva an off-season.

IF the Cowboys signed Collins..... they'd be about a year away from being comparable to the 70's Raiders, 80's Oilers, and 90's Cowboys OL's

And the Dallas hate would be near record high.

Haters gonna hate

I am cautiously optimistic that this is going to happen. There is a reason Collins chose to visit the Cowboys first.

The thought of adding another young PREMIER talent to the line is absolutely tantalizing. Dallas would assuredly be the envy of the entire league if they are able pull this off. Rich getting richer is what this would be.

It would also ease my mind tremendously in regards to our running back situation.

I'd love it if he met with Dallas and signed before leaving. Haters will scream Jerry made illegal promises.

I don't get it. If so many teams wanted this guy why didn't anyone use a 7th round pick on him?

Also, haven't we already used most of our UFDA money? What could we really offer this kid financially?

If a team did he could have sat out and re-entered the 16 draft. I guess with the unknown about the case and his threat to do so had something to do with it.

Hopefully most other teams are in the same boat.
Personally if I wanted him I'd have held off on the UDFA's I signed.

That's pretty much exactly what I hoped would happen. The money is going to be even pretty much anywhere he goes, what else do teams have to offer? In Dallas he doesn't have to worry about taxes, he should be competing for a Super Bowl and he'll be part of an elite unit.

I think it's also big that the whole OL went, even though he might take someone's job. That has to help

I read he could NOT have done that. Either way, doesn't matter there is no way he was going to sit out a year if he was cleared.
