I tell ya, it feels a lot different this year than last. Last year I had to wade through every forums geniuses wanting to trade every single bad contract on their team for Nash (and Brassard) and spent the day on the edge of my chair worried that Howson was actually going to take one of them. Briere and Pronger for Nash. Yeah. Hang on to that dream, pal. Tim Thomas for Nash? Ooooh, you're so generous. Dion Phaneuf? Thanks!

I really couldn't believe it when I got to the end of the day and he was still here. Howson still managed to fuck the dog later, but hey. I survived deadline day.

Now, I still have no idea what the GM is going to do. But I have confidence that it's going to be the right thing. I honestly don't believe the Jackets are buyers or sellers. If they can get prospects and clear cap space by moving Wiz, I think they will do it. If they can get Mason a fresh start somewhere, I think they do. Otherwise, I think they just sit down and laugh into a cell phone occasionally.

Wiz and Mason + 2nd for Vanek would be like an early birthday present for me.

Then Brassard for Bishop and a later pick...
