There has been some speculation that Lawrence may stay his senior year because he doesn't want to play for the Jets. But that really is silly. Next year's worst team may be worse than the current Jets. Then there is the obvious stuff like he could get hurt, he'd be one year further away from his first big contract and he's losing one of his prime years.

Sounds like he's going to try to pull an Eli. Good luck to that.

If there was ever a player who could play an "Eli" would be him

He could stay and make a million bucks in college. Still a gamble, but let's say a team like New England, Atlanta, a Brees-less Saints, or Philadelphia end up with the top pick in 2 years. Might be worth it?

I believe they were saying the same thing about Burrow and the Bengals. Lawrence seems like a nice guy and one that would take on such a challenge imo

I would just tell the Jets that I won't play for them, but tell them that if they can't work out a trade, just draft him and trade him later. But under no circumstances should he ever begin negotiations with them.

His best bet is with Atlanta or Jacksonville. Miami and New Orleans should also be considered.

He isn’t staying in college no matter how much he puffs his chest. He cannot pull an Eli because of the CBA.

Every I heard about Burrow was along the lines of he didn't give a fuck if he went to the Bengals, Skins, Jets etc. He wanted that challenge leading a team from worst to first.

Jacksonville would be the other main team I'd consider in the running, especially since they have a couple of first rounders this year that they could use to trade up to get him. Seriously doubt Miami would consider him. New Orleans probably wouldn't this year. Seeing them draft a QB on day 2 or 3 wouldn't surprise me though.

Maybe it was false rumors, either way I think Lawrence will have the same attitude.

If Lawrence decides to stay for his senior year I won't fault him. It's his life.

I can understand not wanting to play for the Jets. But if he returns I think it's a foolish move. Just like any football player he's one major injury away from losing a lot. He should enjoy his final year at Clemson and go to the NFL.

There are not many teams that wouldn't consider him. Both Miami and New Orleans would be crazy to pass on him if there was a chance.

Nobody has enough draft capital to trade for the #1 pick, plain and simple, I don't think even the Jets are that stupid to trade the pick away. The only way Lawrence or that pick will be traded is if Lawrence forces a trade or he returns to Clemson (which would be stupid). That pick has WAY TOO MUCH value.

Lawrence has nothing else to prove in college. Though I would think he knows that and just wants to finish his degree. Not that you can't always return to finish.

Unless Tua gets a career ending injury, it’d be nuts for them to draft a quarterback in the first round two years in a row.
