Well plenty of quiet whispers now coming out of Denver say the coaches have been blown away by the development of Lynch. When they drafted him it was with the idea that he would need a year to develop. He has learned so quickly that his timetable has been sped up. 3 weeks ago when camp started no one would have thought Lynch would be where he is right now. It has gone from him looking pretty far behind the other two guys to everyday making not only the splash plays that he was making earlier but is now him being a very consistent performer and actually looking better under center than many thought he would at this point. This week with Siemian injured has been huge since he has gotten his most work with the #1 unit of any other week so far in training camp and so far he has looked outstanding. Obviously still plenty to clean up so probably not a week 1 starter but as others have said week 4 or 5 we could easily see the Lynch era begin in Denver.

Yeah Kubiak said last week after the game Lynch has progressed much faster then he expected. We shall find out after this week. Sit back grab your popcorn and buckle up.

I don't think a preseason game has mattered in Denver as much as this next one in the history of the Broncos. I mean who plays the best truly could determine who becomes the starter of the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Be interesting to see who is #2 up this weekend. Be quite telling.

I would say if Lynch is the #2 guy then the coaches are very impressed with his growth and really want to see what he can do playing against some tougher competition. I really hope that is the case. Like I said Lynch has really been impressing the last couple of weeks with his all around game. The coaches when Lynch is not in the game will have a formation set up and run a play and have him then right after the play is done say what play was ran. He couldn't do that during OTA's but now he rattles off the plays every single time. With the playbook being one of the major concerns of his development I think that is a huge plus to hear he is picking up on it very quickly.

I'm trying to hold back my excitement over what I keep reading of his growth over the last couple of weeks but it is hard to not hope the Lynch era begins very soon.

I like calling him PLynch.

I don't think there is any question that Lynch will take Starter snaps at some point in the season - perhaps mid-point - to get him ready for the playoffs. I'm excited about him as a player.

Seems like with every passing week his timetable gets moved up. Before training camp started it was "he needs a year." Then it was "Well maybe after the bye week depending on the record." Then "Well maybe week 5 or 6." Today I am hearing they are thinking maybe week 3 is the target the Broncos are shooting for. IF they are 1-1 or 0-2 at that point many think the Broncos would pull the trigger. If he has a great game against the Rams no telling if he gets bumped up to rumors flying that he will start the season.

Honestly some of this reminds me of Russell Wilson his rookie year where each week he just looked better and better until the team just reached a point that it was clear who was looking like the best QB and they had no choice but to start him week 1. Not saying Lynch will start week 1 but he has definitely progressed enough that plenty of people watching practice are slowing coming around to the idea that this kid will be starting much earlier than expected.

If Mingo had twins at his ripe age he could call them Peyton and Paxton.

True, but you have plenty of opportunities to create twins. Get on it.

So a few notes from practice today.

Siemian was a full go again

Guys missing practice today...Sambrailo, Graham, Heuerman, Wolfe

Sambrailo did do some conditioning work on the sideline so he is getting about a week or so away from contact and probably another week before they would think he is ready for a game. So most likely not ready for the Carolina game but could be ready week 2 against the Colts.

Wolfe is still dismissed for a personal family issue. Not sure when he will be back.

Today Kubiak did flat out say that Jordan Norwood is our punt returner. Doesn't mean he can't lose the job but right now very clear front runner for that job.

Might have to call it now but Henry Melton might go down as the steal of Free Agency this year. He is turning heads and has already made his way onto the starting line up with Wolfe missing practice. Some have been saying (Big Al is the main guy I heard talking about this) that Henry Melton is easily our fastest DL guy on the team and that he has been blowing by some of the OL players making plays in the backfield.

Talib has been looking good in practice and is expected to play this Saturday.

Wade Phillips today said that the plan for at least the first half of the season is to use Ware as just a 3rd down specialist to take advantage of his best skills and save him for later in the season.

Today was a walk through day. Should have specified most of my comments were not specifically about practice today but just the overall feeling of this past week and what they have seen from some players like that of Melton and Talib.

This will be the last game for many Bronco players.

This next week and the week after that are honestly the worst weeks of the NFL. I hate seeing the dreams of many of these players crushed. They really do need to form an official minor league system or adopt one of the leagues already established. Gives some of these guys that need another year or two of development a chance to maybe get a few more notices. I'm honestly surprised that more guys don't go to the CFL or another league and I'm surprised how few of those guys get a shot in the NFL after shining a couple of years in one of those leagues.

Agree- With injuries many will get another shot, but for many this will be it.

Sounds like DeMarcus Ware and Shane Ray decided to see who is faster and ran a race today. Shane Ray barely beat out D. Ware. The old man still has some wheels.

I guess they bet each other $10,000 on whoever won.

Good thing we don't make bets like that in this forum. Mingo would make a fortune.

I wouldn't mind having $10,000 sitting around ready to bet on a race. I'm guessing my wife would be none too happy even if I won if I made that bet.
