That is awesome if he is, kinda hard to take Harbaugh seriously about these things because of his past remarks... but, I have no doubt Smith has a really good grasp on the system.

Anyway, to get one of the best offenses in the league everyone needs to be an expert in the system not just the QB. I think of how last year some of the guys on the Colts said it took them 3 years to learn Indy's system, when they were scoffing at the idea of Kerry Collins picking it up in 3 weeks.

The WRs have talent, but things would be a lot better if they all had 2-3 years of experience in the system. The one good thing is that with vets that 2-3 years can get shortened to a few months because they already know routes and stuff, they just need to learn the terminology.

Yeah, I wish he would tone down his comments as well.

I used to hang on a lot of what Maiocco wrote, as if it was Niner cannon, but now I find myself skipping a fair share of what he does for CSN.

Definitely....there is much more of a "company line" feel from everything CSN broadcasts, whether its Niners, Giants, Warriors, whoever. They brownnose every local team, and the beat reporters get the message either directly or by catching the drift.

"On the fake field goal? When I went down? Yeah, I can tell you exactly," Harbaugh deadpanned. "It was a fake field goal. To the untrained eye, I'm sure that looked like a slip and fall to the ground. To the savvy football mind, that was a chance to demonstrate the importance of cutting off the outside foot. Also, a demonstration in having the proper footwear when playing football. Cleats are a necessity. A teachable moment."

i love that response

And on the topic of Maiocco, anyone else think the quality of Maiocco's articles has diminished since leaving the Press Democrat? I used to hang on a lot of what Maiocco wrote, as if it was Niner cannon, but now I find myself skipping a fair share of what he does for CSN.

Yea definitely feel Maiocco fell off after he went to csn. I liken it to a football player getting a big contract in FA and just mailing it in. Barrows is my go to guy for all 49er news.

This the bs talk that got me drafting Alex Smith for my ESPN fantasy football team. smh. I hope you're right Donte.

I was tempted to get Alex Smith too, just because in my opinion he is the biggest sleeper at QB. If Moss shows up and brings 15 TDs to the offense then Smith will get a ton of points... so I was tempted.

But I went with Stafford and Ryan instead.
