I'm officially on a Kyle Williams for WR2 campaign!
49ers practice 8/1/2012:
Receiver Michael Crabtree (right leg) did not participate. Crabtree appeared on a side field in shorts and a long-sleeve shirt to work [on pulling his head out of his ass] with head strength and conditioning coach Mark Uyeyama. He stretched and performed some simple exercises. No serious running was involved.
He came out to the practice field [in time to watch Kyle Williams demonstrate the finer art of playing WR and why he and not Crabtree should get the nod come 9/12/12. Oh, and] to watch the final session of team work.
CSN's Mindi Bach observed a couple notable Kyle Williams moments. In a 7-on-7 drill, Williams lined up wide right in front of cornerback Tramaine Brock, who was playing seven yards off. Williams grabbed a nice 35-yard reception.
A few plays later when a coach criticized A.J. Jenkins on his execution of a route, Williams grabbed the rookie and showed him what the coach meant and gave him a supportive pat on the helmet before running off to the next drill.
Williams has been outperforming Crabtree since oh I don't know, 1986 or something like that - enough is enough with Shit-for-brains-Tree - Williams is a gamer and a team player - put 'em in coach!
Note: Some of what is posted here represents the "unedited" version of Matt Maiocco's article just prior to going to press, thus the final article may appear different...
Edit: This is from one of the other links:
"It was third-and-10 when Kyle Williams dove across the middle and snared a Colin Kaepernick pass. Then it was Williams slipping past cornerback Carlos Rogers for another third-down converstion. Finally, on third-and-2, Williams went deep and hauled in another Kaepernick pass."
