If the Patriots were to part ways with Belichick at the end of the year, who.. REALISTICALLY…. Would you want to replace him. And what REALISTIC Coach do you want no part of?

I would love an offensive minded coach. Ben Johnson the Lions offensive coordinator would be my 1st choice. He’s turned that team into a very good offensive unit.

Who I don’t want…. Anyone from the Belichick tree. Need to wash our hand’s clean and start a new era.
If they make a change, make a complete change. Either an offensive minded or defensive minded coach with a top coordinator with mostly autonomy on the other side.

The only thing one has to question is, "What was Jerod Mayo promised?" He stopped the interview process two years ago and stayed. Was it money or did RK promise him the HC job??

Unless it's in writing, it's just like any other NFL promise. Guaranteed to be broken.

If he had left at the time, Belichick would have had a completely 'white' staff. Only blcks would have been ass't. coaches and that would not have been anything that Kraft could have schmoozed over.

So out coaching staff would align with our cheer leader sqaud? (ie The Albino Chorus Line)

Great, intelligent arguments have been happening about Belichick and his future with and not with. The Patriots.

No one knows what his contract says or anything else. Anything to do with it is 100% assumption.

Trading BB:

First, he would have to find a team where HE wants to go.
Second, if the team is the Carolina Panthers or Washington Commanders, HE will not want to give up a first round draft pick.
Third, the team where he goes must be willing to eat whatever he's being paid and also be willing to pay him equal or more.
Fourth, the team to which he is traded will probably want Kraft to eat his salary for 2024.

Firing BB:

If Kraft fires him, he gets no compensation.
If Kraft fires him, he has no control where BB can go or what he can do.
If Kraft fires him, BB is known for his temper and doing what he wants regardless of the outcome.
Given that:
Would BB look at the Buffalo Bills who are saying that Shawn McDermott is going nowhere?
Would any owner who wants BB go to his starting quarterback and ask him if he wants BB as his coach?

Most likely landing spots??

Carolina. New owner wants to rebuild the franchise and has a bottomless pockets.
Washington. New owner wants to rebuild, loves the bright lights and notoriety, Owns the 76ers (NBA) and Devil (NHL) and has a bottomless pockets.
San Diego. Owner is a cheapskate but has a team that is on the cusp of being really good. Problem is that he has a QB with a year left on his contract.

and the Biggie:

Dallas Cowboys. McCarthy can't quite seem to get the Cowboys beyond the first round of the playoffs. If Jerry Jones wants a couple more Super Bowl tropies, Bill Belichcik would be the perfect coach to bring in. He'd make a great defense even better. He'd most likely talk Josh McDaniel into coming with him and make the offense a juggernaut. The Cowboys would most likely win two out of the net three Championships.

Think what you may, but all things being considered, BB will not be back in New England in 2024.

I disagree. He'll be back with a massive amount of cap space and some really nice and high draft picks.

Or he'll retire.

And if the Krafts strip him of GM duties, which they may.

Are we all certain that BB is the one making all of the calls? With all of the crap being spread about the Mac Jones pick it sure seems like the entire staff was in agreement on that pick before he made it.

Maybe his scouts suck. Maybe Matt Groh sucks.

Are we certain it's all Belichick?

Jones was the correct pick to make at 15 we neeed a QB and he was best available. That was a no brainer, BB and his staff and decisions have ruined Jones.

If they are his scouts and he is the GM then yeah that is his fault.

We cannot be certain of anything, but when you are the GM and the HC with an owner that has a history of not making team decisions who else can you blame? The fans!

I heard that his scouts told him to stay away from NKeal Harry and yet takes him over AJ Brown and Metcalfe. This offense is reported to be the lowest since the 2011 season by the Rams. McDaniels was the OC and now to think what Brady had to do. Belichick in 11 seasons has 1 playoff game and been to the playoffs only twice w/o Brady. Guy is a bum, learn to deal with it. He brings Judge back as assistant HC and has his 2 sons who learn from a shitty HC dad

No way Dallas. BB wants to buy the groceries and cook. Jones will have none of that. It would be fun to watch those two going for each others throats though.

Agree, Jones was the correct pick. NE screwed him over. 3 different "OCs" and schemes. No blocking which has him seeing ghosts and doesn't help the run game. WRs who can't catch or separate. No idea why the TEs have fizzled in NE.

Kind of feel bad for Mac, except he has a job we all wish we had.

This is a common narrative, that poor Mac Jones was ruined … there are other scenarios. Patience, team is hitting rock bottom, Mac is just another bad brick in the wall, maybe not his fault, time will tell

More was expected of him I guess, against all odds?

I’m still in the camp that the “weapons” the Pats acquired over the past 3-4 years were good enough for a bridge to the rebuild. Fans, media, everyone is telling is how lack of talent the Pats are. I still believe they picked up some good weapons, now in shambles, and did not use them properly… coaching?

I agree. Still can't understand how quality TEs have disappeared in the NE offense.

As you mentioned many factors play into it. Losing Scar and Ernie leaving also hurt quite a bit. Many on here don't talk about that.

There's been plenty of QB's that have dealt with multiple OC's or HC's and different schemes in their first few years in the league that haven't folded like Jones.

The brain drain on the coaching and scouting staff was bound to catch up at some point.
