Why not just make Malkin a full time winger?

Ding ding ding.

People always talk about how the Pens need to find a winger for Sid. And they do. But they don't need to sign some big name free agent, or trade for an all star wing. They already have a All Star caliber player spending most of his night beside Ruslan Fedotenko and Max Talbot. No disrespect to either of them, but aside from a couple Game 7s, they both suck. Put Malkin on Sid's wing and let them dominate for 22 minutes a night. Geno sucks at faceoffs anyway and can use a little less defensive responsibility to focus on the offensive part of the game.

Staal is ready to be a second line center. He is a Selke finalist and puts up 20+ goals and 50-ish points on the checking line. He can handle it.

A guy like Letestu or Talbot can step into the third line center role. No, the Pens won't have the best 1,2,3 punch down the middle anymore. But they will have a legit wing on the team. You gotta give a little to get a little.
