It did have a lot to do with him being a baseball player. I've been watching it a bit recently with the gf.

We also have Bill Simmons podcasts which gush over the various sports and he pretty much acknowledges that the Patriots are a lot more recent than the other fanbases and he is obviously a Celtics fan first but he did right a book called 'now I can die happy' so i bet the Sox are 1a. Boston is pretty much just a sports town now but I could certainly see the older population leaning towards the Sox.

The Patriots have a certain issue with the old folks in NE. Namely that those who grew up enjoying football did so while watching the NY Giants. My father in law was a NY Giant's fan and I doubt he ever went to NYC. They were good when he was in his 20's and they were the only game on TV around here back then (50-60's)

I still firmly believe that if all 4 Boston teams were doing great and all were to win a title the parades for the Sox and Bruins would dwarf the other two teams.

Your 38.8 age is from 2010... I can assure you the demographics have shifted since. The population of the Brickell area of Miami alone has doubled in that time.

You really haven't been to Miami in a long time... Brickell is nothing but 25-35 year olds with money. The entire Wynwood arts district is nothing but hipsters that are 21-31. The median age might be 38... and I would be interested to see when that last was taken... but there are enormous areas of the city where there are ten's of thousands of young adults. The eye test is all you need to realize this if you fly into Miami.

Miami Dade County may have a media age of 38... but there is no way in hell the median age of the city of Miami is 38.8. No way in hell.

Ok, I think I found the issue...only 34.8% of Miami is White Non-Hispanic. Baseball fans, if you look at most seats...its not the most diverse sport yet.

In the show, the owner of the bar was a former Sox pitcher and the waitress' husband was the goalie for the Bruins (wasnt he traded to the Pens in later seasons?).

The Pats were a joke before Y2K, so them not being mentioned is not a surprise.

I seem to remember (I may be mistaken) that they were pretty Celtic crazy as well, even though they did not have a character with any ties to the org.

LA is more of a football town than a basketball town - proven now by how quiet it is around here since the Lakers' futility. It's just been that all the fans pack the bars with team gear from other cities. We'll see what happens when the Rams get back.

When I'm at the gym, football is the sport that most people talk about. College and NFL. Lots and lots of transplant fans.

And baseball is big down here, Dodger hats/gear/lanyards are everywhere all year. La Raza isn't afraid to represent.
