There are so many Jeter haters here that they will vote against Jeter just for that... But if you look blindly at ONLY stats without name sake... This would be a landslide win by Jeter... After Alex Rodriguez, Jeter is the best offensive SS of the past 40 years...

I do not know what Campy's D was like. I can only assume he was elite because his bat was almost non-existent.

While Jeter was very over-rated defensively, I think it safe to say he was at least league-average.

So, basically...

With the bat: Jeter was elite, Campy was well below replacement level.
With the glove: Jeter was average, Campy was elite (assumed)

No brainer. Campy was one-dimensional, Jeter was well-rounded.
