I know we don't like pre 1900 players, there stats are just unreliable... But Luis Gonzalez is just SUCH an average player... He had moderate power in the steroid era, he had a decent OBP, and OPS... But just NOTHING special at all... AND he was a below average defender... At least Clarke, who made the HOF, did something... He stole bases(I know pre 1900 basesteals are different)...

You take away Gonzalez lone great season, and his averages would be no better than JD drew...

I am going with Clarke...

I think Gonzo did enough to beat Clarke. Clare's numbers look good, but I just can't trust them. Therefore you are either voting FOR Gonzo or AGAINST Gonzo, and I think he did enough to receive a "for" vote.

Not necessarily voting against Gonzalez. Gonzalez had a tremendous five year period, Clarke's numbers from 1900-1911 are good enough to vote for him. Plus as a Yankees fan you have everything BBB keeps putting up here.
