Im pretty sure Matt Ryan and his 305 ypg, 22 TD's and 5 INTS and a win over Mr Wilson and the Seahwaks in the time frame you are talking about would disagree with that statement.... LOL.

Oh, please. We all know Russell was the best player on the field in the Seahawks-Falcons game. And it's awfully convenient of you to magically start your stat count the week after a 5 INT crapshow.

You Russell Wilson trolls are delusional. Best player on the field? In WHICH game and how?

SB you know I LOVE Russell but having him top 5 this early is nuts. I wouldnt even have put Ryan top 5 without a playoff win last year and he has done it for WAYY longer than Russell. Kid is a stud though without a doubt, I could maybe see him top 8 but not quite top 5 yet.

Again, if all of these guys have been "doing it for years" and yet never played as well as Russell did in one season, how can you possibly rank them over him? I could maybe see an argument for Ryan because he is coming off a monster year, and is clearly improving from a very good career start. If I didn't think very highly of his supporting cast, he might even be #4, but I often see him getting bailed out in ways that Russell or RG3 or Eli don't because he has the best receiving corp in the league.

As for playoff wins, they go to clutchness, which is important. Russell has proven himself clutch time and time again. Their season was on the line against us, and as a Bears fan, I knew we were fucked. Sure enough, he leads them back. Massive Sunday Night game on Thanksgiving Weekend with one of the biggest audiences of the year? No problem. And of course, when he was down 3 TDs to the Falcons and his only mistake was scoring too quickly. How many yards did he have in that game? Wasn't it like 450? Yeah, i'm not holding the lack of a playoff win against him when he was the best player on the field.

If you want to talk about consistency being a big factor, that's your choice. If I am asked to pick the top 5 QBs today, i'm going with the guys who I think are the five best. And I have no doubt that Russell is in that group. He has everything you could want in a QB: big arm, accuracy, quick release, football IQ, the ability to read the field, speed, feel for players around him, leadership, work ethic, and fearlessness. He has the numbers. Sorta like people calling me out for my JJ Watt love, the people doubting Russell (not you as much as others on this board) are gonna look foolish.

The Falcons-Seahawks game where he had a 110 QB Rating and 445 yards while leading his team to 4 TD drives in 5 chances with their season on the line. I didn't realize that statement would be that controversial. He was the talk of the nation after the game. PTI even had a question asking what the bigger story was after the game, Russell or the Falcons winning, and I believe both chose Russell.

If Russell wasn't the best player on the field, who was better?

I cant stand Colin Cowherd.

But he said it best, "If I see a beautiful woman at a bar, do I need to wait an hour or two before claiming that she is beautiful? No, I can recognize it right away. Why do we treat QBs like this? Why do we need a certain amount to time before we can claim that a QB is a great player?"

It's a solid point. And we really only do this with QBs. We dont do this with RBs or DBs, if they look legit, we claim it.

I know that many will claim that the NFL has seen it's share of QBs that played well as rookies but did little afterwards. That's a fair claim, but give me one of those examples that didn't have at least one major weakness in their game. If you cant tell the difference between rookie Vince Young and rookie Russell Wilson, you need help.

Someone saying Russell isnt going to be great is nuts. HOWEVER there is a difference between saying someone is going to be ( or hell, even is great currently) and ranking that person in front of guys who have been doing it just as well and doing it longer. As I said I could see a legit argument for Wilson at 8th place in the top 10 but no higher. At least not yet.

I agree you should be able to tell a good qb right away, especially after one season. Wilson and Kaepernick are both good quarterbacks -- that's obvious. But I think ranking them in the top 10 after just a season is a problem.

I was making my List partly off what they did last season and what i believe they will do this coming season. It was opinion based. I believe Brady will fall pretty far this coming season, i look at his team and weapons and i just see decline all over it. Ryan on the other hand Took a step he needed to last season and i believe he will only improve because of it and this pushes him over Brady. Brees if you ask me is the #2 passing QB behind Rogers in the NFL but i made my list like i said Based on what i believe will happen this season and what we saw last season. There is a reason for my madness. :)

Like I said, I honestly don't care, but expecting numbers to fall off with less weapons has no relation to the quality of the QB.
