I kinda messed up the top of the options, and to move everyone up a spot, it would have been a pain in the ass.

With Lefty off the board, this opens my top spot again.

I THINK I am stumping Robinson now, but I am open to hear arguments. Maybe we go catcher here? Is it time for Trout? Do we go way back and look at Ott? How about the 2B triplets? Do we go with another pitcher here?

How many of you still have more than 10 players above Griffey Jr?
Just looking at OF, I think he is probably #4 at best (Robinson, Ott, Trout). But then you have to look at the 2B as possibilities and at least one of the catchers.

The next 10 I'm looking at are:
Mike Trout
Eddie Collins
Alex Rodriguez
Grover Alexander
Mel Ott
Christy Matthewson
Nap Lajoie
Frank Robinson
Eddie Mathews
Kid Nichols

I'm willing to slot Griffey in the bottom half of this list.

a few rounds ago i was being very anti Cy Young, mostly because i didnt yet do the analysis for him... and was saying Mathewson was better than young...

after i did a quick analysis, i saw Young to be far superior... and kind of lost my Mathewson Stump... i actually dont see him to be much different from Alexander, Seaver, Gibson, and Koufax...

and problem with a larger tier for pitching, is that it is too scary to look at and then you go offense..

so my three this time out are all position players...

AROD- i think it is time, if it wasnt for the stigma, he could have been top 10... i think the push down is now too much...

then i have Ott, Robinson and Morgan in the next tier, and can only pick 2 of them... i omitted Robinson because honestly, i think he has done the least of the three...

Here's a breakdown of Oscar Charleston's salary history:
  • Indianapolis ABCs: He was paid $325 per month.

  • Saint Louis Giants: He signed with them in 1921, earning $400 per month, the highest in the league.

  • Indianapolis ABCs: He returned to the ABCs at a salary of $325 per month.

  • Gift from Fans: Charleston received $500 as a gift from fans on July 23, which was proclaimed as Charleston Day at the Giants' home park.

Why Morgan over Collins and Lajoie? I know you see him as better but I'd like to hear more why.

I nominate a pitcher every round, Lefty was that, so now who should I nominate?

Mathewson, Alexander, or a modern like Koufax/Gibson/Seaver?

i will admit, a lot is based on the deadball era bias... i dont like not really fully understanding what type of bat a guy is...

Which is why I like OPS+. I know that there are no stats you like but you have to measure by something and that seems to be one of the better statistic to use to compare eras.
