but it is werid to see that trout and Judge are basically the same age...

is it possible for trout to have a resurgence to his career??
I could see that, maybe. His last full season was 2019 but in all those partial seasons when he was in the lineup he was still great. In 2022 in 119 games he hit 40 homers and put up a 6.2 WAR.

But 5 (4) consecutive seasons without being able to stay healthy is a bad sign. Players dont typically get more durable with age.

He feels like a retirement any time now is more likely than a 100+ game season.

No. But they do often have one good old season.

And as long as the angels suck, they will have a spot for him

I really hope he doesn’t pull a Posey and retire WAY too soon. That would be a loss for all baseball fans.

Would it be a loss?? He’s been out of baseball since 2019. With random games being played in between.

Yeah it's sad he's in such a depressing situation. You look at the moves the Angels make and I can't imagine them getting any better.

54.0 IS great. But it isn’t the elite elite of the elite great.
I'd agree on that. He gets compared to Barry a lot, but Barry is better whether you're talking 1998-2004 Barry or 1990-96 Barry

Looking at WAR7 for players not yet ranked in our poll, here is how the three in current conversations sit:
Judge's WAR7 is at 51.4. That would tie him with Ferguson Jenkins at 54th best.
Griffey's WAR7 puts him at 50th
Trout's WAR7 puts him at 20th

I don't think any of them are Top 25, as of right now.

Can you add Rose and Trout to the list of nominees for the next round? Both feel like they could start getting votes any time now.
I agree on Trout but not on Rose.

Compare with my 3 favorite (but not sole) stats:
WAR - Trout (86.2 to date); Rose (79.5)
WAR7 - Trout (65.1); Rose (44.9)
OPS+ - Trout (173); Rose (118)

Rose played in 24 seasons. Trout has played 14 seasons so far. I think Rose falls outside top 100.

Outside the top 100?!? For the hit king??? That’s cold, man. He was so good for so long. Maybe not so many big peaks, but he was unbelievably durable and consistent. And nobody played the game harder. I could see him getting some real consideration soon.

I strongly doubt he will ever get a slot in this project. And I am not personally dinging him AT ALL for the gambling thing. I just don’t view him as one of the true greats. Speaker, Wagner, hell, probably Palmeiro were all better than Rose.

I think that’s fair. He’s probably closer to Ripken than he is to Mantle, but longevity and consistency matter(and I don’t imagine Ripken will get much love on here). But I can’t ignore the 4000 hits. It’s just kind of mind boggling. I would start considering him soon and I wonder if others agree?

I could see adding Trout.

I think Joe Dimaggio is the obvious add at this point. He ended up showing up in both lists chappee posted yesterday from mlb network (top 5 in both)

Those lists were absolute garbage.

I have included DiMaggio off and on since the start. He received an “other” vote in this poll, so he will definitely be included in the top 11 list. Rose and Trout I will consider, but I will see how it turns out when I am making the list. I included all the fresh HOFers this round, and that pretty much ate up all the “rotating” spots. Clearing them out will give me a lot of room.

No one has mentioned Josh Gibson at all in these talks. While I think he deserves a locked spot here, I may boot him from a locked spot moving forward. He just doesn’t have any traction.
