Easy to avoid pissing matches. Simply come on, say the Seahawks are better than the 70's Steelers, Russell Wilson is better than Dan Marino, and the Champs are gonna 19-0 repeat. No trouble at all
Its a ridiculous concept, though. 'Collapse the pocket and Peyton is meat' means that the defense is winning at least 2 other matchups because Peyton gets rid of the ball early and he has 5 guys in front of him blocking and a bunch of guys that can catch a football. It also means that you're running a package that he can't audible out of into a run play.No, because some players themselves are only dangerous because of the players around them and/or the game plan is easier to determine against them (even if executing it isn't easy). This list was trying to narrow that down to just the 10 players who alone required the most thought by DC's around the league. It's a subtle distinction, but that's what they were attempting to do.
No Peyton on the list because if you collapse his pocket he's dead meat. Didn't say doing that was easy, but that's your plan.
Newton isn't anywhere near Peyton, but he can beat you with his legs and arm. He requires more game planning. At least according to this list.
