I don't know about lost. They were only valued at something like $550 million when he bought them. The question will be whether they continue to appreciate in value or start depreciating.

It was a case of showing off to some degree.
The new owner of the Clippers grossly overpaid because he could overpay...and did not give a fuck.

It was almost a vanity driven afterthought of the mindboggling wealth.
It is a financial version of letting the world know you are Ron Jeremy or John Holmes.

He will eventually turn a profit, but he enjoyed the accolades and power just as much as anything.

9 of these 10 teams(all but GS) fall into the top 5 largest cities in America.

If you consider where GS pulls it's fans from, the entire bay area, SJ, SF, etc... it is right there too. If you consider the money that is in that area it is no surprise about the value.

I don't think Miami makes that list either.

Yea dude bought the Clipps for 2 billion.. they are worth 1.6 billion. But when you have 20+ billion.. overpaying for something isn't really a concern. Give me 20 billion.. I will pay 5 billion to own the Heat because that would make me happy. Not like there is a bunch of stuff you can buy for 20 billion that you cant buy with 15 billion. These owners have ridiculous amounts of money.

You are right. Miami is not in the top 10, I looked it up and Oklahoma City is actually bigger than Miami.

^^^THIS^^^

I'd do the exact same with the Lakers. Now, I just have to figure out how to get that $20 billion.

You are right. Miami is not in the top 10, I looked it up and Oklahoma City is actually bigger than Miami.

Miami population size is skewed. The city limits are insanely small. You cant go east or much south because of the ocean. West is the Everglades. Miami sports pulls from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. There are 5.8 million people in those 3 counties as of 2013. In contrast, the state of Oklahoma has roughly 4 million people in it. Miami is just a weird city because of the geographical limitations of the ocean and swamps that surround it.
