Some reports had him being offered around 6 if he hit the open market. Not saying its not a lot, or that I am completely happy about it, but I bet someone within a handfull +/- of Thomas's point total gets more this off season.

lol, yeah stupid Habs. And if they let their leading scorer go for the 2nd straight year there will be tons of critics calling them stupid for that.

Look at Kessler's contract and stats and look at Pleks. He was a UFA to be who is coming off a 25 goal 70 point season. 2 out of 3 of his recent seasons have been good ones. Look at the contracts of players around him stats-wise last season.

He is overpaid so far as most UFAs end up overpaid but the Habs didn't pay him anymore than anyone else would have. There is no way he signs for 4 million. If he his the open market I garentee in this economy he gets more than 5 million per season.

Marleau and Kovalchuk are going to get huge paydays no matter what Plekanec signed for.
