so apparently I need to see Jeremiah Johnson ......

Before you go to bed tonight you need to see Jeremiah Johnson. Be sure to watch it in widescreen. I think there's a remastered Bluray out now. I have it on DVD.

I wasn't even talking about TV but Gunsmoke is my all-time favorite TV series. Over 700 episodes and not one single dud. How many other TV shows only get better as time goes on and quit while they're still at the top?

I idolize Jim Garner and also love Maverick. I also love The Virginian, which is now out on DVD.

Gunsmoke was great. Maverick was another good one.

young guns?

My personal favourite but I haven't seen many of the older classics. Young Guns 2 was pretty good too. But it's obvious that when they wrote the 1st, they did not originally intend for there to be sequal. There a several inconsistencies between the 2 movies.

I also love The Sacketts, The Shadow Riders, The Long Riders and especially the newer Louis L'Amour movies with Tom Selleck like Last Stand at Saber River and Crossfire Trail. Also loved Quigley Down Under. Anyone else?

My favorite comedy Western

"Support your local Sheriff"
"Support your local Gunfighter"

Blazing Saddles was just stupid.

The Wild Bunch (the epitome of a great western film)
3:10 to Yuma (a rare remake that is better, or just as good, as the original)
True Grit w/ John Wayne

Loved Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid! The jump off the cliff when Paul Newman says the fall will kill you is classic!

I also like Silverado....I know it's a sappy but Jeff Goldblum in a Western come on thats acting range!

TheClint Eastwood westerns were cool but if you have seen one they are all pretty much the same.

Those two movies are cliche. The last great western was Broken Trail. Don't watch westerns after that because they've been atrocious.

I was pleasantly surprised by the remake of True Grit, thought the girl did an amazing job.

all of his early spaghetti westerns were similar but I think Pale Rider and Unforgiven were 2 of his best

I'll watch any new western or movie with Jeff Bridges.

You have to understand, I own probably 100 westerns on DVD and have had the Westerns Channel since day one. When I tell someone I love westerns they respond with "Yeah, Unforgiven is awesome" or "I love the remake of True Grit" I know they're not fans of the genre.

Good point. One movie I hope that is NEVER remade is "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance".

Arguably my all time favorite Western...arguably.
