I think the thing that folks forget is that nobody can predict weather.......it is impossible. The best that a weatherman can do is simply get us prepared for what potential there is in a cell. This thing had potential to do some crazy shit....

There will never in our lifetime be a single person who will be able measure precipitation perfectly before it falls. Weather can change at the snap of a finger, and thus there is too much room for error.

It is very difficult to forecast weather across the upper Plains. Too many variables.

I couldn't disagree more.

90% of the time a forecast should end up being less dangerous than it has been forecasted...........there is a reason for this. You are taught in school to prepare people for what the weather can "potentially" do........not what it's exactly going to do.

If they would have went on TV and said "it looks big right now, but we'd bet $1,000 that this thing is going to weaken up.....so don't worry folks" then when 10 inches of snow ends up coming down we'd all be bitching about how they don't do their job.....

It's a lose/lose sich for a weatherman........but someone's gotta do it.

snow's piling up out west here....lucky it's pretty dry stuff. it's snowed lightly for two days now but about 4 it started coming down hard and hasn't stopped
