280 AB's far from enough. I read somewhere were ex-players said 1500 minor AB's needed at minimum. I will have to try and find that.

Go to the Rays official site and look up Z and you'll see all his stats from the minors through current MLB stats.

860 career minor league PA's which is extremely low.

He had 229 total AAA PA's when he was called up and while hitting .227 that year at Tacoma. That should have been a sign he wasn't ready at the plate, but like said above he was called up for his position because they were not prepared for needing a MLB catcher for whatever reason...so Mariners is the actual reason.

M's cutting cost again. Cut a guy and hope someone picks up his remaining salary.

Yankees claimed RHP Cory Gearrin off waivers from the Mariners.
Gearrin has always been good against righties and has held them to a .643 OPS this season. He'll deepen the already-stacked Yankees bullpen.

If Crawford makes the play on the Smoak grounder in the first for the 3rd out, results change big time Would have saved on a lot of pitches and given up 0 runs). And he should have made the play.

It was Eagar that said it, "1300-1500 in the minors" that is where he found that swing. That always stuck with me

Mariners won-loss record by month:
March 5-1
April 13-13
May 7-21
June 12-16
July 10-13
August 8-10

Mariners won-loss record by streak:
13-2 (games 1-15)
12-37 (games 16-64)
12-8 (games 65-84)
3-15 (games 85-102)
15-12 (games 103-129)

In true Mariner fashion, first kill the season and follow that up by killing any chance of getting a top five picks in the draft. Current draft order:
1. Detroit
2. Baltimore
3. Kansas City
4. Miami
5. Toronto
6. Pittsburgh
7. Seattle

Their current streak of 15-12 in their last 27 has dropped them below Toronto and Pittsburgh in the draft order. If they continue winning the pace of the last 27 games, they will also drop below the Rockies in the draft order and possibly the White Sox as well.

Piss away the season and then piss away a good draft position. Go mariners!

I knew it was a H.O.F. hitter but couldn't recall who. That makes sense. :suds:

Gawd...Milone is just giving up the bombs. Can't believe Blower's and Simms comments about Milone being a good pitcher. He's only given up 3 bombs in the first 4 innings...so far anyway.

I’ve never been a fan of putting a number on how many PA one needs in the minors. To me it has always been a dude needs to spend some time at every level where he is forced to make adjustments. Zunino was given opportunities to make adjustments. He had power for days but never really was able to become a professional hitter, which IMO is where you go on prolonged slumps but are able to mentally bust out of them. He wasn’t given the time to become a professional which is where I feel someone is rushed. Plus they did the exact opposite of well run organizations and wasn’t brought up for a cup of coffee if you get a call up during a lost season.
