This makes no sense, “ okay we are going to sit a young guy that finally pitched the we thought he could and insert a guy that lost his arm four years ago and won’t be here next year!”

They want him to savor this feeling as long as they can because it might not happen again...as a Mariner anyways. :pound:

I get what you are saying, but this one wasn't on the M's. He didn't arrive until just before the game traveling across the country. The odd thing is that at best he will start tomorrow then have to fly all the way back across country. It seems they could have waited until after tomorrow and just have him meet up in Seattle from Tacoma.

Then that kind of goes back to in true Mariners form. If they are going to call up a true prospect you do it legitimately. It’s not some AAAA type player getting rushed to the team because someone got hurt. Beating a dead horse but this move is another check mark against Jerry’s leadership as a GM.

On talk radio they thought it was dumb to call him up now . In 11 days they could have called him up without using up an option year .

Yeah I don't understand the move, then again maybe it was a PR stunt since he was just named 2019 Minor League player of the year for the organization!

My grandson Paxton and I decided to watch the M's together. By his reaction, he is already confused by them.

Highlight of the game? Cameron in the TV booth. I love listening to him and hearing just how happy he is even when Jr. is on his case all day and night because Cammy said Edgar was the most consistent hitter...lol.

Then what's this I hear about the "closer" blowing things in the bottom of the inning?

Leave it to us to not be trusted with a lead as soon as we get it, at any old time.

Are the M's rushing Fraley to fast? I'm concerned that they take this 24 yr old from AA to AAA to the MLB too quickly. The M's have screwed up players before by moving them too fast. Most recent I can think of was Zuni no cuz they needed a catcher. He was lights out in T-town before pushing him to Seattle. This organization has a history of players being just so so in Seattle, but after being traded or DFA'd to other teams, they seam to blossom. Guess Seattle has issues with player development or something?

I don't think so in his case. He was hitting well at both stops so it is okay to push a guy. In Zunino's case, I don't think he was hitting well so moving him up wasn't best for him. Challenging guys that don't look overwhelmed is good baseball in my mind. Fraley went 0 for 3 I believe but stung two of those that the defense made great plays on. Then he made a great diving catch in CF off a great read.

Hope you're right about Fraley. Maybe I had it wrong, but it seemed to me that Zunino was hitting pretty well @ Tacoma. I just remember seeing his stats in the paper long before his was sent to Seattle and I thought they were pretty decent. I'll do a search and see what he actually was doing prior to being called up.

Checked the stats on Z in Tacoma. 2016 is probably the best year for accurate stats as he had 280 AB's.
OPS .898 - .286/.376/.521. Certainly not All Star stats, but a hell of a lot better than his stats after moving up to Seattle anyway.

I really don’t think so. Fraley has just done what Kyle Seager did. Wasn’t the top prospect but excelled at one level, moved up to the next and exceeded at that one. I’m a way IMO you can hinder a prospect like they did with Adam Jones and Sin Shoo Choo with letting them rot in AAA then call them up to be bench players. I don’t want Fraley to fall into that category.

Personally I think Mikey Z poor plate performances is self inflected.
I believe they actually tried to work on his approach and stance and he would just go back to his old habits.
I think his head got to big when he would a home run and he would be swinging for the fences every time.

Zunino was mainly rushed because of the catcher position being so poorly managed with little foresight in 2013. They honestly thought Montero could be a full time catcher all year with no contingency plan other then some random veteran backups like Kelly Shoppach and Henry Blanco. That was the first mistake. The second one was once he was clearly struggling they again didnt have any kind of backup plan so he spent nearly two seasons dying in the big leagues before finally getting removed from the big league roster around the same time that Jack Z got canned. So long story short, I dont see it being the same situation because I think even if he struggles he can be sent down because there are other options.

280 AB's far from enough. I read somewhere were ex-players said 1500 minor AB's needed at minimum. I will have to try and find that.
