Sorry for this non-Mariners post, but it just made me laugh and as mariner fans we could all use a good laugh this year.

I don't buy defensive metric ratings. I will keep with the eye test. Segura had limited range in my opinion.

Fair enough. These days I probably spend more time reading and analyzing the box score than actually attentively watching the game. I rely on the defensive metric ratings because I don't believe I have a definitive sample size of certain players but I can completely understand why you'd prefer the eye test. That's how I am with football when I attentively watch every snap.

I didn't think Segura had the good first step. I saw a lot of balls hit look like outs that made it to the outfield. JP has made those plays in my opinion. I like the change, but wanted more in the deal.

Which is why any defensive metric is dumb and impossible to turn into a stat. Numbers can not measure range, first step, instincts or arm strength. A dude diving in the hole and barely missing the throw is a negative while not being able to get the same ball isn’t even counted. Derek Jeter and Brenden Ryan were equals in defensive metrics and if anyone says Jeter was remotely close to Ryan as a defender can go jump off of a cliff and do society a favor. I think offensive numbers are a little jacked up but at least someone can make a reasonable debate over them.

... and the team has the longest losing streak this year, no?
With their 13-2 start, somewhere in there has to be a nice win streak... could be 6 or 7.

Edit: Yup... just checked, prior to getting smacked by the Astros and Indians on their way back to earth, they had a 6-game win streak in the midst of the 13-2 start.

Edit 2: Oohhh I misread.... you said "losing streak" -- look like their worst losing streak was a few 6-gamers too. "few" = 4. They have 4 6 games losing streaks. LOL.

And no.. base on the records... I'm pretty sure either the Orioles or the Tigers have a longer losing streak than the M's at some point in the season.
