There may appear to be similarities on the surface but Wisky is not like us.
Alverez in 15 years won 3 conference titles and no NCs.
Bielema in 6 years won 3 conference titles and no NC's. Now 3 out of 6 may sound good until you look at the 3 years he one were years all the perennial powers were in a down cycle.
Conference records Alverez 65-60-3, Bielema 37-19 not bad but certainly not elite considering their schedule every year consisted of Northwestern, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois and Purdue. Add in at least 3 of 4 cupcake non-conference and you have any "elite" program with at least 7 wins guaranteed before the season starts.
I consider us to still be in recovery mode so I do not expect the last two years to be indicative of the next ten or fifteen.
With realignment appearing to throw us in the same division I am confident the differences will quickly become more apparent.
