I still think it's too early to use RPI as any sort of gauge, but the Big 10 only has 4 wins over current top 50 RPI teams. Minnesota has 2 against Alabama and Providence, and Michigan State has 2 against North Carolina and Notre Dame. The rest of the league is 0-17 against top 50 competition.

That is a bad loss for Penn State last night. If they have reservations of making the tournament, they need to win games like that one. I don't think Wisconsin is an awful team(my guess is they end up in the NIT), but you gotta win games like that, especially at home.

Iowa appears to be the worst team in the B1G(now watch them go out and beat ISU on the road).

Ohio State looks like they could be that team that finishes 4th in the league. Holtmann is really good.

After Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue it's anyones guess. 4-14 is going to be a cluster merry-go-round all season.

Rutgers might be able to avoid finishing dead last for the first time.

Iowa and Illinois are both pretty god awful. Nebraska is not much better.

Gettin run outta the gym against fucking Nebraska(said with all due respect). What a terrible performance. Not sure if we're a top 4 team in the B1G.

Huskers get a nice win at home vs Minnesota. Still undefeated at home, as the Vault is becoming a tough place to play in the B1G. Glynn Watson goes for 29 points and 9 rebounds, Huskers out rebound the Gophers and go 22-28 from the line.

Minnesota has some ballers though. That Mason kid can flat out shoot.

Next up in this 4 game gauntlet for Nebraska

@ Creighton
Kansas at home

This is why i'm not even going to attempt to predict how the conference is going to go. Fairly confident Michigan State is going to run away with it, but otherwise it's just going to be that kind of year where everything is topsy turvy

I'm starting to wonder if this will only be a 3 bid league. I'm not even sure about the Gophers chances now, especially if we lose against Arkansas(which I think we will). We'll need to go 12-6 in B1G play to feel comfortable(projects to a 9/10 seed at that point). We lose our first game of the B1G Tournament, and I can see us being in Dayton or left out all together.

Your buckeyes are in prime position to be that 3rd team. Getting a road win in this league for anybody outside of MSU/Purdue would appear to be difficult. Having 1 in your back pocket is so huge. Iowa, Rutgers and NW are your next 3 road games, then you get us on a neutral court. Wouldn't surprise me to see a 4-0 stretch for you guys during that run.

Eh, I'm sure there will be at least 4 B1G teams in the end, getting that 5th team might be a bit of a challenge the way things are right now though.

We don't have many opportunities for "great" wins, but as long as we avoid any real bad losses I think we will have a good shot in the end.

With the way the league has performed, I think it's going to take a 12-6 in conference for anyone to feel comfortable. If Michigan State and Purdue run through this league with 16-2/17-1 or something like that, I can honestly see it being a 3 bid league. Michigan State and Purdue are probably the only teams that are going to definitely finish in the top 50 of the RPI. If the bubble teams(really any team 3-10 in conference) don't beat Michigan State/Purdue, they are only going to have 1/2 top 50 RPI wins.

With the way the current landscape is shaping up. It wouldn't surprise me to see 8 Big 12 teams make the tournament, which would be insane. And it wouldn't surprise me to see 10 ACC schools make it. The Pac 12 is just as down as the B1G, and I don't even think they will have 8 combined between the 2 leagues.

Still a bit early to get a good gauge on RPI. Right now it doesnt look too good for sure though. They do at least have the #2 strength of schedule as a conference as a whole.

The Pac 12 is quite a bit below the B1G even, that conference is really a mess at the moment.

Where did you find that figure out at? The one I look at, currently has the B1G as the #10 SOS for conferences. I should note it doesn't include last night's games, but they are conference games, so the number wouldn't be affected in terms of OOC SOS.

And while I agree, using the RPI at this point, is probably a little premature, I just don't see the B1G winning a majority of their big time OOC opponents that remain, based on what we've seen so far. The biggest problem when I look at the schedules for the B1G in their entirety is that a majority of them have some high profile games(3-4 top 50 teams), but a lot of them also play the worst of the worst in CBB(250+). I thought that would be an issue going into the season, and it's played out that way.

IDK what the most reliable RPI is, they're all different.

I'm guessing the B1G is below the ACC/SEC/Big 12/Big East and above the Pac 12 in almost all of them though.

I go by this: Live-RPI.com - Conference RPIs

Which also projects out OOC SOS, and it projects the B1G to have the 24th hardest OOC SOS, which is really awful. This also suggests at this time, the B1G is closer to being the 9th best conference than the 4th best conference. I've been using this the last 4 seasons or so, ever since I found out it exists.

Wisconsin now with their 5th loss OOC, to go along with no good wins. Yet another missed opportunity for the conference as a whole.

I guess they could improve down the stretch, but man right now Wisconsin just looks like a team thats going to have trouble getting over the hump and beating just about anyone whos at least decent.
